The case of the missing black Test cricketer

Very interesting thread and quite a few valid points. I think we cannot underestimate the financial barrier to cricket, or sport, in general in SA. When you see people earning a pittance, you often ask yourself " how do they live?" and I can assure you that playing for the national team in any...

*Official* First Test at Trent Bridge

Australia are in the pound seats now. They need to ram home the advantage. Can't let them get away like England allowed in the first innings.

    South Africa Squad Discussion

My team for the first match would be: Amla A. Peterson Ingrim AB Faf Duminy Ryan Mclaren Robbie P Steyn Morkel Tsotsobe The Alternative is to drop Ingrim for Behardien or Miller but I don't think AB, Faf, or JP can bat at 3. I think they are important cogs in our middle order and I don't want...

Is Matt Prior the best keeper/batsman

That comment was in reference to your insuination that he is more likely to retire on Day3. This hasn't happened, so you can't bash him with that stick.

Alec Stewart's all new World Test XI

as a wicket keeper Batsman. His keeping is not that poor. He is more than capable behind the stumps, as has been seen in the last year. His batting fis far superior to Prior's and his glovework isn't shody. As an overall package, AB is streets ahead of Prior.

Is Matt Prior the best keeper/batsman

I disagree, in that scenario, I would back AB to make the catch. AB has amazing reflexes and I have seen him pull off "screamers". Fair enough, his back is a bit iffy, but in the year that he has been keeping, he has never went out with a sick note, so it ain't fair to bash him with that stick.

Alec Stewart's all new World Test XI

Anderson has been "off " his game in the last 12 months. His strike rate is something ridiculous like 75. I would take Pattinson over Morkel. I would also take AB over Prior as keeper.

Is Matt Prior the best keeper/batsman

I got to agree with this. AB the batsman is miles ahead of Prior and his keeping is fine. He may not have the best technique WRT to keeping but he takes his catches and that's all that matters IMO. Keeping stats for the last 12 months: Prior 14 matches, 24 innings, 37 dismissals AB: 11...

Is Dale Steyn the new Allan Donald?

Gun call. He is well on his way to 500 wickets.

Who will you support in the upcoming Ashes and why?

Will be supporting Aus. I really can't stand the arrogant poms media. Does my head in.

***Official*** England in New Zealand series 2013

It must feel great to have an opener who can score 100's :p I have been so impressed with New Zealand during this series. They have been the much better team through much of the series and a 1-0 series result will be justified. Come on Kiwis!!!

    ****Official****Pakistan in South Africa

He has put his hand during our 4 day season. was the leading wicket taker ( averaged 15). So his call up is well deserved IMO. All you can ask of your domestic players is to perform at franchise level and he has done that. Glad to see that the selectors are rewarding good performances from...

yep, it's confirmed. I assume that Faf will bat at 4. looks like a nice straight shoot out for the resereve seamer position between Abbot and Kleinfeldt.
