Ganguly's old statement comes back to haunt him

The new BCCI chief, Ranbir Singh Mahendra, who was elected earlier this week was also the manager of the Indian team that toured Australia in 1991 which was Ganguly's debut series that ended in a debacle for him. In 2000 in an interview Ganguly called this guy "stupid" and said it was a shame...

    New ICC ODI ranking table

I didn't have the time to go through the formula for these new ratings, but it looks a little lopsided.... with India getting pushed to the 8th place although they have a win percentage of 60% which is just next to Australia and South Africa. Also Pakistan has a better win percentage then...

    Overseas players in Test teams

Interesting concept from Rodney Hogg... says Test cricket teams which are in th ebottom wrung like Bangladesh should be given the opportunity to hire overseas players who are good but don't get a chance to play test cricket for their own country.....hmmm.... methinks Hogg is stretching it too...

*Official* South Africa in Bangladesh Thread

South Africa versus Bangladesh test series The first test is on, between the official number one test playing nation on earth and the real minnows, the "not-even-in-the-rankings" test nation. Day one is Paul Adams' who gets a five wicket haul and Habibul Bashar who scores a decent enough 60...

    Contracts row frozen

Looks like the contracts row over the ambush marketing clauses between the Indian players/BCCI and the ICC has been frozen by the ICC and would be looked into after the world cup. The players have signed the contract by deleting the ambush marketing related clauses and now ICC seems to have...

    How about this field setting

A very interesting field setting...McGrath bowling to Grant Flower in 1999. http://login.hq.cricinfo.org/perl/picture.cgi/007651/AUS There was a picture of Dennis Lilee bowling to this exact same field placement sometime in the seventies. [Edited on 18/12/2002 by aussie_beater]

Third umpire deciding LBWs and bat-pad catches etc

Shoaib Malik became the first victim today of a TV umpire deciding whether he was LBW or not.Under experimental regulations for the ICC trophy, everything from LBWs to bat pad catches can be referred to the third umpire. I find this a little unnerving. What say folks ?

Should replays be used to judge catches

This issue of using replays in deciding catches has come to sharp focus in the second test match between India and England at Trent Bridge, with the incidents involving Stewart and Butcher. It was the same issue in Bombay a year and half ago with that Slater incident involving Dravid.I feel...

    Which team was the greatest

Which team was the greatest among the following two ? Lloyd's West Indians or Waugh's Aussies. I think there shouldn't be any debate on the greatness of Lloyd's pack and Waugh's Aussies don't really measure up to that team's level of excellence, but as a lot of talk has been going on lately on...
