West Indies record in Oz for ODIs has been dreadful for a long time. Even though people assume theyre going to be more competitive in ODIs than Tests, it's actually a fair but worse. Haven't beaten Oz in an ODI match in Oz since 1996/97; Oz have won 20 in a row or thereabouts.

Yep, theyve been doing bringing on legends on board to paper over the cracks for decades. Recall in 1999 Oz tour of Caribbean how journos were saying bringing on Clive Lloyd in a management role had turned around Lara's captaincy and the team (Lara resigned less than 12 months later. Curtly...

tbf to the West Indies overall they provided a pretty good contest, much better than Sri Lanka did against Oz earlier this year. All of the Tests followed the same pattern; after 2 days it was a fairly even Test with the West Indies in with a chance of victory. But self-belief and skill saw...

Haven't checked the stars in a while, but when Gillespie played a full home Test summer he usually ran out of gas by the final Test, which led to his record at the SCG being very ordinary.

Just wondering when the last time Oz failed to have someone score a ton in a minimum 3 Test series; can't think of one atm.

Closest I can recall is 4th Test of 1981 Ashes where Mike Brearley (!) top-scored with 48.

While I didn't think they'd get them out this low, today's event underscore my point. Just playing conventionally in 1st innings batting probably would've seen them win by an innings.

Puzzling thing about Oz tactics is that they're acting like the Windies batting lineup has Viv Richards, Lara and Clive Lloyd in it. On paper this Windies batting lineup against this Oz bowling is a no-contest and so it's largely proved this series. Do they really think they can't bowl them out...

Australia has held the Trans-Tasman trophy since late 1993.

This is turning out how you'd expect with a batting lineup where nobody averages as much as Alex Carey.

This pitch is a brute to bat on against this pace attack. Wouldn't surprise if they're dismissed sub-100.

At least Brathwaite avoided a pair in his 100th Test.

Indeed. That visual they showed after about a dozen overs of bowling that not one ball would've hit the stumps was damning. Unforgivable especially when you have a nightwatchman to bowl at. Credit to Lyon though, always been good value as a nightwatchman.

Factoring in the pitch and the quality of the WI batting and Oz bowling attacks, can't see the West Indies getting close to whatever Oz set as a target. But having said that, credit to the West Indies as they've been more competitive than I thought and made this a good series. Especially...

Australia cutting loose now; Smith looking especially good. Green has looked a bit better since the rain break, but still not fully assured.

With this pitch playing like it is, even if they do get skittled Oz would be confident of defending a target. I think Chase talking about anything under 200 was gettable, but I think 125 would be a tough ask for this West Indies batting lineup.

Agree with the commentators, Windies have been too wide, especially on a pitch where there are shooters every now and then.

If Chase can barely lay bat on ball against Webster, how hes going to do against the main pace attack?

In this WI batting lineup, scoring 40 probably guarantees his spot for the next 12 months

Green played some nice shots, but such dumb batting by him to be playing that shot after he'd gotten away with one earlier on the over (just before a break no less).
