***Official*** India in South Africa 2017/18

I'd love to see a breakdown of home/away... curious if standing closer to the stumps due to the low bounce in India has any effect on the catching (clutching at straws here :))

The issue with No Balls and Dismissals these days

Bit difficult I'd say. Whatever is on the shoe would have to be a passive device, something like an IR-reflective tape. And then you would need an IR source and sensor on the popping crease -- that's already a bit unwieldy (could have it in line with the stumps, perhaps). Around/over the wicket...

meh, ignore all the bile spilling. write this one off a la perth'10. totally expect a fightback from england in test 2 -- they actually bowled very well. just really **** batting, which is a mental thing that can be fixed quickly.

is it possible to register both side-on camera and front-on / rear cameras to the same clock, and show them side by side? that's probably enough to get most decisions right.

That's not always the case. c.f. Dravid's decision in England. Snicko and Hotspot disagreed. Hotspot gave a negative result, but he was given out.

clearly Steve-o anticipated the old 'vaseline on bat' trick, ignored hotspot and gave it out anyway. Good on him.

I have to say, I really like this sort of batting display. Good old < 3.0 rpo grinding is refreshing.

Nah, I don't think the rules are to blame. The more 'human judgement' you bring into it, the more inconsistent the decisions will get. I will let you come up with your own scenarios. (in this case, 'human judgement' would have worked -- but in other cases, who knows? And that's why the rules...

It was (and would have been) given out without DRS, so the naysayers can stuff it. The added injustice from DRS changes nothing.

that's just ****ing brilliant. ****ing idiot 3rd umpire. i don't know why they spent so much time looking at the front-on view when the key was the camera from the leg side. clearly showed the ball had passed the glove with miles of space in between. morons.

    Indian Domestic Season 2011/2012

Watching this Chepauk pitch leaves little doubt about the sources of our problems abroad. IPL has nothing to do with it. I wish they would move to the bonus point system of county cricket (and apply it to both innings) instead of the 1st innings lead systems, which grossly undervalues anything...
