Well all this talk of Dravid opening and taking one for the team, I don't see why Laxman shouldnt open. He was originally an opener when he started, granted he didnt have too much success but I think it's time for him to reinvigorate himself up there facing the new ball. Temperamental-wise he...

Players Who You Predicted Would Be Great................

i would have to say dwayne smith - looked brilliant in his test century on debut against SAf - nothing short of appaling since.

    katich over jaques

yep im also in the boat ( growing into a ship now) of people that can't justify the selection of katich over jaques. Jaques has the unique ability to be both explosive (numerous hundreds in ING cup) and be a patient builder of innnings (90 odd against Pak A in a seaming pitch.) Due to his...

Apparently he started off his career bowling off-spin and then realised his batting talents. I have never seen him bowl so am ill-advised to pass judgement :p

IMO, Bracken's effect on grassy wicket << MacGill's effect on any wicket as he still turns the ball a mile. So MacGill shud be picked - there is no need for the wicket to be a huge turner for both Warne & MacGill to be played

Give Symonds one more chance at 6, I have a feeling he will rise to the occassion (e.g 2003 WC against PAK). If he fails again, I wouldnt mind seein the 5 bowler attack esp against a dogged SAf attack on the PROVISO that Ponting uses all 5 bowlers effectively instead of having Warne bowlin 50...

Do you think this is true?

In response to the original question. no1gangsta makes a sweeping generalisation based purely on height rather than talent and skill on a particular facet (bowling/batting) of the game. In saying that, by and large he is right most succesful batsman are short and most great bowlers are tall but...

Yet another XI thread. Northern vs Southern Hemispheres

I don't think it's as clear cut as you may point out. Both Pak and SAF are ever improving and have enjoyed long streaks of success. Australia are the favourites yes, but by no means certainties.

4 down now - key wicket of Tharanga goes to Kumble - hopefully we'll get them 7 or 8 down by stumps. Great bowling by Kumble 3-31!

well wat about yasir hameed - he looked quite good in aus wen he came - made a couple of stylish fifities. I think S Butt/ Y Hameed is a good opening combo even if Yasir a boundary-dominant batter
