    Wisden's Cricketers of the Century

I think the 143 and 132 against AUS, the 186* vs NZ and the 98 vs PAK will be on par if not better than Viv's 189*. Bevan was a great finisher. I don't think he was that good in building long innings and big hundreds.

I think it's the other way round! Tendulkar is an awesome ODI player, one of the very best. It's tests that he still has that little way to go IMO.

Agreed. It's true that anyone with an avg. over 50 in 50+ tests is great but there's a huge difference between 99.94 and 51.12. It's common sense that there was a big difference in the no. of games played in their respective era's.

None other than Dennis Lilee. Worst example ever hmmm...so you are saying that bowlers were'nt ever intimidated by Lara. You look at averages over a period of time you dumb moron. If Andy had maintained his average through 125 Test matches then you could say he was in Gavaskar's league, for it...

And Sachin too. Especially in India, you could see the frustration and exasperation on McGrath's face.

    Wisden's Cricketers of the Century

Well Lara was brilliant(and very intimidating) against Australia in the 90's, right when McGrath was at his peak. McGrath is considered by some to be the greatest fast bowler ever.

    Wisden's Cricketers of the Century

In an article on cricinfo about Sehwag - "Even strolling about the crease between deliveries, he appears to be thinking not about the bowler changing his line of attack, or of this fielder going here and that one there, but rather of palm trees and golden beaches."  He's just...

    Tuffey

He bowled well against us at home and also in NZ (the only two times i've sincerely seen him bowl). IMO he's a good bowler.

They are just looking good (i.e promising) and are good prospects. So what? That doesn't mean these guys are gonna turn out like Hick.

    Wisden's Cricketers of the Century

OK fine. And you are conveniently ignoring the significance of 434 wickets, the significance that it was a world record for a number of years, the significance that it was an Indian quick in a team full of spinners on spinner-friendly tracks at home.

    Wisden's Cricketers of the Century

There has never been so much competition among quicks in India. There are some uncapped guys who are looking good too.
