5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

At some point, Jadeja or Washington (or both) will have to bowl. Before tea? Is the right idea, I think.

Overton.... Why? If England are looking for a bowler that can bat a bit, they need to have a look at George Hill.

Watching India bat, again, in overcast conditions, reminds me how impressive it was they patiently scored 350 at Old Trafford. Now the sun is out, it doesn't look a bad toss to lose. Confident India will reach 400 tomorrow.

    2nd Test (Edgbaston) - July 2nd

Dear I say this pitch will have a bit in it for Jadeja & Washington?

    2nd Test (Edgbaston) - July 2nd

It wouldn't be the first time a set batsman, having his eye lids wide open, smacks the ball to a fielder on the boundary. Worth a try, given the situation, I guess. Edit: not sure he should have another, though.

Across various formats, he has one fifty in 90 innings, averaging 11 or so. Unless he can simply stay there, like a nightwatchman, I can't see him being of much use with the bat.

Excellent idea. When they bring Bashir as a whitness, he can play for my Saturday Afternoon Social League Team, which is only 10 minutes (by bicycle, as we do here) from the ICC.

Might as well put it down right now? As soon as a wicket falls, either Sundar or Gill has to, as India have three proper #11s.

A classic example of a tail-ender farming the strike, while his captain is on 199* .

    2nd Test (Edgbaston) - July 2nd

I can see Sundar rising in the ranks of great all-rounders. Maybe I'm somewhat overly enthousiast, due to his debut Test in Brisbane (four years ago!). But he does have something special.

I can see Carse doing ok Down Under. And maybe Wood & Archer will play. But still, I agree with you here. Another point is that the Aussie batting line-up is looking average without Smith.

Agreed. Jadeja, imho, does outrank Flintoff, Bravo, Watson & Stokes.

Whatever is going on (baz-ball, wrong toss decision, flat pitch, dry spring, wrong selection, whatever really), being 400-odd for 6 at lunch day 2 is never a bad thing.

Somewhere at the top. Not too many all-rounders in his league!

Impressed by Seales & SJoseph. However, the proof of the Windies' pudding is in their batting.

This (the batting line up) has been true, since Lara (and later C'paul) retired.

    Some bowling by Shamar.

Oh well, first boundary after 96 balls.

Not only 3 wickets early in the innings, but we are still waiting for the first boundary, after nearly 100 balls.
