Rob Steen on Steve Davies coming out: "should've been a Wisden cricketer of the year"

Rob Steen does write some rubbish. He's nearly as unreasonable as Roebuck.

    *Official* Indian Premier League 2011

Praveen bowled horribly pretty much from the getgo. He had to have a bad match at some point. His accuracy was all over the shop I was very disappointed in Harris' last over, he went into Brett Lee 'slot' mode where, as Lee can do sometimes, he just bowled half-volley after half-volley. I...

    Warne.. pls come back

Imagine him and Johnson in the same attack. Him with the ability to knock the bail from off stump with every delivery and the wtf merchant not able to hit it once in a match.

    Warne.. pls come back

Jackman uses his feet a **** sight better than Steve Smith.

Recent glut of amazing ODI hundreds..

In terms of context, I would say O'Brien's is the most thrilling ton in ODI's, I can remember for the last few years. They were down and out of that match and he just went at the English bowlers hell for leather. It was real goosebumps time as you realised they might actually do it. And the...

Shane Watson: what's holding him back?

All that you are saying just tells me what I already know. He is a One Day opener who should be batting further down the order in tests. He's not a test opener. It's like Mitchell Johnson being our main strike bowler. It's lack of any alternatives that keeps them where they are.

    *Official* Indian Premier League 2011

Man, it's such a joy to watch Gilly. I'd rather watch him than most of the current Aussies. Dan Christian is just bowling junk.

Seriously rotten fielding from Bangalore. Muss is just slogging now.

Shane Watson: what's holding him back?

I'd love it if he could gain some form of solidity about his batting so that he didn't throw his wicket away. Having an opener do that so often is such a downer, but I don't expect him to suddenly become a really concrete opener at test level. He may have only played 27 tests but as you say he's...

    *Official* Australia in Bangladesh

To be fair though (apart from the spin bowler situation for which the selectors should be ashamed of themselves) a lot of the bowlers in that list have come in due to injury. Brett Geeves would never have got a game unless the barrell was scraping through injury.

Shane Watson: what's holding him back?

He's been playing a very long time now. If mental strength isn't there, it isn't there. It's like expecting Marcus North to develop consistency.

Australia - the aftermath of the Ashes

I don't know what this review is expected to achieve. Very little I would think. Unless they turn Frankenstein in a desperate attempt to build a world class spin bowler.

Australia - the aftermath of the Ashes

Losing three tests by an innings in a five match series isn't what I'd call 'slightly' embarrassing. Though CA seemed to have wiped it all under carpet already. I assume that it will be business as usual for the next series. It is a consequence free set-up.

    *Official* Australia in Bangladesh

I'm getting to the point where I think teams should be fined for not trying to win. If it was Pakistan doing this, the rumours would be rife and they might even be investigated over the dreaded 'f' word. Tell me why any of the test playing nations or even the Associates should be able to get...

2015 World Cup: 10 teams and no associates

James Sutherland obviously thinks most fans swallow the junk that CA spin out endlessly. :clown:

Australia Announce New Captain and Vice Captain

I understand why they've done it, there are no other options and he may be a pretty good skipper, he's got more feel for it than Punter, but even so, he's been in poor form for about 10 months. Even in the WC, he ended up with a great average by performing against the minnows. I hope he drops...

*Official* - Final - India v Sri Lanka

Very high class innings from Dhoni. Is it possible for a him to become an even bigger star than he already is in India? Congrats to India. Kept the nerve in the chase very well. Sris really looked short a couple of bowlers.

Australia Announce New Captain and Vice Captain

Ok, so that's the two of them with no first class experience. It probably won't make any difference though. After years of skippering, Punter was still very ordinary at helping his spin bowlers. It's amazing though, when I think about how poor Clarke was during the Ashes, that he's somehow...

You know what really grinds my cricketing gears?

I'm looking forward to the time people say that about the Aussies. It can't be far off. Maybe if we kick Bangers backside in the one dayers?

Australia Announce New Captain and Vice Captain

There is so little choice. He's skippered NSW so he must have some idea what to do.
