Big Bang: any source of who's absent from each team?

I'm setting up my first Big Bang line up (I play all the competitions these days), and one big problem, especially since I can't be up at 3am (US time), is, who is absent from the teams in the BB? When I see Hazlewood, I know he's in the Test of course, but is Pieterson actually going to play...

**Official** Bangladesh in the West Indies

Hadn't heard that. Hope it doesn't happen; I expect it would hurt both WI and T&T.

English courts finally accept that Freddie is above the law

Somehow it's comforting to know that British courts can be just as stupid as American ones.

Placing our bets on "Test Cricket's Young Fab Four"

I voted for Williamson as a vote of hope, not prediction (I don't know enough to predict). However, I would definitely have voted for Bravo had that been an option.

**Official** Bangladesh in the West Indies

Agreed that Narine isn't as effective in Tests, and is typically left out (he's only played in 6, compared to 52 ODIs and 32 T20s), but it still ticks me off, since I always love to see him bowl.

What cricket looks like to Americans

No, it was a weekday, the park was almost deserted, and we never noticed a single person watching us. Might have been fun!

The Waltons vs The Little House on the Prairie

I can't evaluate the teams, since I just don't know nearly enough cricket players on the lists (now if they were all Windies players, I'd have a chance). But soon as I saw the first post, I thought, "wow, this would be cool with Dr. Who characters." I've been a huge fan of Dr. Who for 30 years...

What cricket looks like to Americans

I found the clip quite enjoyable, but to me it seemed to make fun neither of cricket nor of American views thereof. If it were really trying to make fun of American perspectives of cricket, I think it would have had to have been much closer to actual cricket, with somewhat subtler humor. This...

**Official** Bangladesh in the West Indies

All quite true, but alas the Windies have a poor track record recently in Test cricket. Hopefully they can build confidence before South Africa by playing Bangladesh, but it will be a disaster if Bangladesh should manage to top them even once. As for South Africa, it's scary in any case.

Start of the tough ones: pitches

Time to start asking a few questions on what I think of as 'tough' topics: ones that are probably complex and subtle (among other things). Later I'll get to bowling and batting, but let's start with pitches. From watching a lot of cricket lately, and from one day of actually playing it, however...

Start of a new set of questions

Thanks for all the further comments and info. I spend a lot of time thanking, but you guys spend a lot of time sharing great information! OS, I appreciated the video of the seamer 'ball of the century', although I couldn't appreciate it nearly as well as Warne's. I think the movement...

    Best Cricket Movies?

Thank you all for the feedback thus far! I haven't watched any of the recommended movies yet, but Fire in Babylon is on YouTube, and I have ordered Lagaan and Calypso Summer. I figure I have some good times ahead of me. A bit of popcorn and a pint of bitter and I'll be all set! If I think of it...

    Best Cricket Movies?

Just came across this article on cricinfo: Rob Steen on the slim canon of cricket movies | Cricinfo Magazine | ESPN Cricinfo A discussion of cricket movies (and the lack thereof), and compared (briefly) to American baseball movies. It discusses or mentions most of the movies that have been...

**Official** Bangladesh in the West Indies

*** rain! Torrential downpours and wind. Not looking good. :( As for the last ODI, I thought Bangladesh were trying, and had a chance (admittedly remote) for much of their innings. In any case, losing by under 100 was a hell of an improvement!

    Best Cricket Movies?

Thanks guys! I'll respond more later, but in response to 'is it available', after reading this I checked Ebay, and a seller in California is selling it for $6.20, free shipping (in US anyway). That's probably about 4 pounds. Just checked, shipping to UK is $9.45. Might well be better deals from...

My first time playing cricket, sort of. Prequel to more questions.

Thanks once more for the responses. As for using a red leather ball, before we started, I told my boys that we could throw or bowl it, but not to a batsman. I was concerned about injury in advance. However, after we had played some 20 overs with the hardened tennis balls, I realized, 1) we can't...

Start of a new set of questions

Wow... so much to respond to. Spent a half hour just watching the videos. Have to start with Warne. I've heard of him, of course, and heard him in the commentators' box even, but I didn't know the specifics. Plus I assumed he was a seamer. Foolish or not, I picture great Aussie (or English)...

    Best Cricket Movies?

In the US, baseball has a great tradition of baseball movies. Some are wonderful, quite a few are modest or downright lousy. I suspect the same is true for cricket, so I'm asking all you knowledgeable folks, what are the best cricket movies? I thought of this because one movie, Fire In Babylon...

**Official** Bangladesh in the West Indies

Nice victory by Windies. Nice improvement by Bangladesh, losing by less than 100. Good all around.
