What we learned from the 5th Test

These are all reasonable and well thought out points on why we should be reticent on allowing subs. However, it gives an opportunity for an additional ad break, so it WILL happen, whether we like it or not.

    English Domestic Season 2025

Middlesex always looked a bit short after the dip in the middle-late stage of their innings. I always thought they Somerset had the chase in hand but the Rew brothers did indeed do well to settle it. Rew Jr started a little slowly but a chat with his brother seemed to prompt him to play more...

    Kapil/Jadeja vs Botham/Flintoff

...difficult challenge none of the retro or Batsmen had to deal with. Jadeja doesn't play the hardest challenge of his time, the three innings he have played have not been indicative of good times for him. so how come Botham gets to be downgraded drastically for record in one country with an...

    Kapil/Jadeja vs Botham/Flintoff

Pant as well, shade above (37) Then again, Bhuvi Kumar averages 33 (albeit in 2 tests) Vihari randomly score a 40* in one innings and averages 60 because of it I see no reason why Jadeja, a far better bat, would struggle for 25 given enough tests to prove himself. The problem with this...

Better Batsman : Jadeja vs Imran

Jadeja's great series with the bat recently clearly takes him over Imran imo. Was close before this series. Jadeja's away average is a good 4-5 runs higher than Imran. Way more consistent too overseas (a fifty plus score every 4 innings as against every 6 innings by Imran).

Better Batsman : Jadeja vs Imran

How are you measuring it? Dev has more runs, more tons, more 50+ scores, quality knocks against quality attack. RPI is not even 2 runs difference. Is it just based on average? For me, IK goes over Dev in consistency and Jadeja is over Dev/IK both in consistency by some margin. Actual 50+...

Better Batsman : Jadeja vs Imran

These are the six Test centuries scored by Imran Khan. Other than Port of Spain, these were jokes against popgun attacks. 117 vs India in Faisalabad, 1982-83 118 vs Sri Lanka in Faisalabad, 1985-86 113 vs India in Karachi, 1982-83 136 vs Australia in Sydney, 1976-77 140 vs Sri Lanka in Kandy...

Better Batsman : Jadeja vs Imran

Well innings against the WI quartet, Lillee, Marshall, Hadlee. Plenty of matchsaving knocks. Yeah I'll take that over stuff Jadeja has.

Better Batsman : Jadeja vs Imran

No because Dev doesn't have Imran level of output. Jadeja does. He is also superior to Kapil. So innings quality is more of a tiebreaker since I think Imran had a higher ceiling.

Better Batsman : Jadeja vs Imran

...WI One against new SA but it was hard to score, 129 in SA against Donald/schultz in SA I will not bother to look his exploits on home gorunds, Botham etc.. I don't put Dev over IK in batting personally. I can see the case if you rate Dev over IK due to quality innings against quality...

Better Batsman : Jadeja vs Imran

To add more here, lower order runs are often vital in winning tests away. IK batting record: One 50+ score in win away with avg of 25 - IK played in 9 wins For Jadeja: Seven 50+ scores and avg of 35 - Jadeja played in 14 wins Some one may point out that less number of results used to...

    Better All Rounder Pair

...too right with more wickets per match and better away record, more 5 fer, more ten fers etc. he also averages more and scores 4 runs more per innings, scores much more hundreds, averages better overseas, scores hundreds more often. kapil has wi record which is great point for him but in every...

Better Batsman : Jadeja vs Imran

...than his career in wins. 50+ scores in wins: Jadeja - 20 times Imran - 5 times Avg in wins: Jadeja - 42 Imran - 36 I think many good innings will be present in draws by both as well. For example, Jadeja was intrumental with his lower order runs in series win in Aus and draw in Eng. I...

Better Batsman : Jadeja vs Imran

Jadeja hundred in a draw at Old Trafford on a road against Archer, Stokes, Carse and Dawson – "words can't describe how impressed I am." Imran hundred on a tough pitch at Karachi on a dry pitch against Marshall, Garner, Clyde and Croft – "you ****ing donkey!"

Better Batsman : Jadeja vs Imran

Career of both Imran - avg 37 - 6 tons - crossed 50+ 24 times in 126 innings Jadeja - avg 37 - 5 tons - crossed 50+ 32 times in 128 innings Avg and ton counts similar, but given Jadeja has batted on far difficult home grounds than IK and yet drastically higher rate of crossing 50, I will take...

lol. Low impact innings on roads. The king of the pointless inning in a drawn match

Same. Quality innings against quality attacks.

Better Batsman : Jadeja vs Imran

Better comparison. I think Imran Khan, by a little bit, I think his big innings are higher quality like Lahore 1980, Karachi 1990 or Adeliade 1990.
