    Khawaja probably doesn't make the Ashes unless he scores in SL. Boland and Lyon don't have the distraction of limited overs cricket and the money it brings, so maybe they will try to hang on. Lyon will have made excellent money, so easier for him to walk away compared to Scottie I would guess.

    From an Aussie POV, assuming they were to win the WTC v Saffers (they will be heavily favored with the bookies) and retain the Ashes, which of the "oldies" would be tempted to bow out and focus on the shorter stuff? I think all the guys who are ODI regulars will want to play the next 50 overs...

    Posted this before the two tests last week for India. From the ICC site regarding SL. They now need the Sydney Test to end in a draw, and to win both their Tests against Australia at home to secure a place in the final.

    Good effort from the Indian tail , but very much Australia's day, if the pitch flattens out somewhat and commentators seem sure it shall, then Australia should get 270+ and that should be enough, this Indian batting line up are a shambles.

    Its actually something a lot of people probably don't think about enough regarding batting order and yeah its true. Also I think Reddy and to a lesser extent Jadeja are more likely to smack a few compared to Washy who isn't much of a hitter.

    True enough, although I do think Sundar is more suited to this type of batting than Jadeja though. I'd like to think Sundar's effort in the second innings ruined any chance of a move up the order which is actually fair enough.

    He batted very naively in the 2nd innings, yeah he blocked well but he made very little attempt to protect the rabbits from strike. His bowling is a bit meh also tbh.

    Yeah very poor call especially as he would have made plenty of money with Liverpool. He probably would have broken down under Klopp, their was a few injuries in his final Chelsea season and he had a lot of football in those legs. Obviously its a what if that should haunt him when he retires...

    I've been critical of Mainoo this season, but this wasn't the game to drop him tbf. That was a shocking call from Ruben. A bit of huff and puff in the second half, but if Newcastle needed to win this by 5 tonight they would , just a huge quality gap.

    Pant is batting at five and has plenty of experience, he threw away his wicket twice and yesterday he opened the door to a collapse. He, Rohit and Kohli were the three biggest flops for India this test and tbh all series IMO.
