    Australian off season domestic 2012/13

What is the salary cap and squad size limit everyone keeps referring to? NSW have Clarke, Watson, Warner, Haddin, Cummins and Starc on CA contracts. Lee has declined a contract. I would offer contracts to the following 14 players: Hughes (must keep) Maddinson (must keep) Khawaja (must keep)...

If it is based on those likely to play tests then why have Doherty and D Hussey been selected? Form wise why have Haddin, Johnson and Starc been selected?

    Australian off season domestic 2012/13

Even when they did play they weren't very good! I wouldn't put them in the top 17 and I also believe 17 contracts is too many. I would have named 15 and excluded those three but included Lee. However I understand those who question the inclusion of Doherty, D Hussey and Lee who are unlikely to...

Doherty deserves his contract as would have Lee. Haddin (441 @ 18), Johnson (27w @ 35) and Starc (15w @ 35) are lucky to get theirs. Cummins although only having taken 17 wickets look a fantastic prospect whose workload needs to be carefully managed and therefore to centrally contract him makes...

I agree with the first 21 out of 23 names. As for the retirements it was hard to see Jacques, Clark and Casson breaking into the team. They will miss Katich. Ireland 0-2 Portferfield and Joyce out first and second ball to Brett Lee. Why has he not been awarded a CA contract but the erractic...

A bizarre decision to award Johnson a two year central contract which makes a mokery of actually having to earn one as he retained his despite bowling utter rubbish in all but one game last year. Australia news: Mitchell Johnson was guaranteed contract | Australia Cricket News | ESPN Cricinfo

Haddin isn't even the second best keeper in Australia as his NSW teammate Peter Nevill is also better than him. Cummins should be centrally contracted if only so that CA can manage his workload.

How can they justify giving Haddin a CA contract but not Lee? Haddin scored 441 runs @ 18 with the bat whereas Brett Lee took 38 wickets @ 24 with the ball. My final 15 would be Watson, Warner, Clarke, Ponting, M Hussey, D Hussey, Wade, Hilfenhaus, Siddle, Lyon, Lee, Pattinson, Doherty, Harris...

Cricket stars face contract cull in wake of Argus review | The Courier-Mail The number of CA contracts could be reduced from 25 to 15 which I think is a good move as 25 is far too many! Who will lose their contracts? Marsh Haddin Hughes Khawaja White Smith Ferguson Paine Johnson Bollinger...

    Australian off season domestic 2012/13

A terrific ambassador for Australian cricket and as a Pom I can say it was certainly a lot easier to beat Australia without him in the side. What will NSW do? Stick with what they have, promote Tim Cruickshank or sign another batsman? Cruickshank is 30 and therefore hardly a youngster. As things...

Who would I pick in the Australia A squad to tour England? Batsmen: Bailey (c), Cowan, Hughes, Khawaja, Forrest, Maddinson Keepers: Nevill, Hartley Spinners: Beer, Holland Seamers: Cummins, Patterson, Bird, Starc, Cutting, McDermott

It's either Rohrer or Maddinson for the final batting spot. If you go with Rohrer Khawaja will open, Smith would bat at 3 and Rohrer at 5. But how many games did Henriques play this year? If he isn't available Rohrer might bat at 6 as he did on occasions this season.

As far as the spinner position is concerned SOK is number 1. Will Hauritz get in the Queensland team? They have leg spinner Cameron Boyce although he is young. Wicketkeeper as captain? Not for me as a keeper can really combine keeping, bat and captaining and perform with all three disciplines...

    Australian off season domestic 2012/13

Hauritz had figures of 3-295 which says it all really. O'Keefe will be number 1 spinner as he is captain. He didn't have a good 2011-12 but his first class average of 34 with the bat and 28 with the ball is not to be sniffed at.

Katich in frame for WA return - The West Australian Rivals set sights on Blues stars NSW cannot afford to lose Katich, Hughes, Khawaja, Smith, Nevill or Maddinson as they are all class players! With Jacques retiring they need a batsman of Katich class and experience. If Haddin were to be...
