Part of this is surely down to bowling alongside Warne and MacGill, whereas neither Marshall nor Steyn had such wicket-hungry spinners.

I'd have AB above Smith. Amla and AB is a tough one that I think could go either way; Amla is hurt heavily by his decline as you said.

Only if you include ODIs and T20s - then you're bang on. But Kallis was certainly better in Tests, and Pollock and Richards are both better too, imo.

There was a period where Steyn said he wanted to develop his batting to a point where he could be considered an AR, but it certainly never happened. He's okay at 9 as a useful tailender but number 8 is a spot too high for him imo. I mean, you mention Nel batting ahead of him (which admittedly I...

I'm guessing for SA most will go G. Pollock/Steyn? Although I think there's a genuine case to be made for Kallis/Steyn, which would mean SA is added to the list. Anyway, my full list: Aus: Bradman/McGrath Bang: Shakib/Shakib Eng; Hobbs/Barnes Ind: Tendulkar/?!?! (Really difficult to give a...

Well it's working great right now imo, so its not me complaining about anything at the moment. It's more of an interesting thought exercise than anything else - and I'm quite interested in whether they can pull it off long-term. I love AEW's product so I hope they can.

May well be wrong as I've obviously never operated behinds the scenes in wrestling but it doesn't sound like a good long-term system on the face of it to have your talent also involved behind the scenes in the booking and stuff.

I'm not so much worried about dog-eat-dog, as you call it, as much as balancing being a wrestler and booking stuff could become a bit much. Kind of like the Cody storyline rn, but as a shoot.

Anyways, on another note, here's an unpopular opinion: AEW is tons of fun right now but I'm worried about the longevity of its storytelling and structure given that to my understanding the top card is basically running the shows and narrative. I'm not sure it can sustain such a system...

I was under the impression that they were sent back to hotels etc. Not sure if it was the official story, but there were certainly discussions that such happened somewhere - perhaps Meltzer said something along those lines?

    South Africa team selection

Yeah the Boks and Proteas are polar opposites in that the Boks are really good at being gritty and clutch, despite not always looking attractive, whereas the Proteas often have super-talented players who buckle under pressure.
