    **Official** English Football Season 2024/25

I'm not a play station football fan, never have been, nor am I beholden to stats. Any idiots w***ing themselves silly over XG over the last few years deserve all the abuse that they get.

I have to say that I always struggled with the Messi/Ronaldo rivalry. It is so hugely overlooked that they were in sides that had some seriously great players alongside them and further back in their teams, especially the midfielders in both of their club sides. So, I simply can't judge them on...

Surely it's more about his impact when he was at his best. Napoli somehow won 2 league titles despite not even being close in terms of wealth to the biggest clubs in Italy, i.e. Milan/Inter/Juve and then there was winning that world cup and dragging a pretty dreadful Argentina side to the final...

You also have a very good chance of finishing top 4 or 5, which should mean CL. Isak is outstanding. Newcastle have had a difficult year or so until the last few weeks because of financial matters, but a lot of good work had been done in the last couple of years before then.

Yeah it's been sh*te. Some rather mediocre teams and lots of poor planning and summer recruitment by a whole host of teams including City, Arsenal and Man United, but certainly not limited to them. My lot (West Ham), have had a couple of years of dreadfully mediocre planning, with some dreadful...

    3rd Match - Afghanistan v South Africa

Yeah, I guess though I prefer there being a little too few ODIs than the old 5 or even 7 game series there used to be until the 3t20s and 3ODIs that many tours now consist of. However, it is harder to identify which mainly t20 or mainly test players have the transferable skills for 50 overs.

    3rd Match - Afghanistan v South Africa

It's quite an old batting lineup with Temba, RvD and Miller all into their mid 30s. It isn't a bad lineup but you might think they would want to integrate one or two younger players post this tournament in ODI cricket ahead of the next world cup.

    4th Match - Australia v England

I did wonder about that..... I share the reservations of others. I am glad that Smith is in but it is a huge risk that he plays at 3. We are still also a spinner short. Not sure about the seam selection either.

Would Botham make it to your England ATG XI?

To be clear peak Botham was an incredible player that I watched, but it was utterly sad watching him during his last 5 years when he played tests.

Would Botham make it to your England ATG XI?

I misread the damn thing, that's why! Doh!!!!!! Edit: I got confused between this and the thread below which was about England all time ODIs.

Would Botham make it to your England ATG XI?

But this is ODIs where Botham was less good across his career than tests. Even if we allow for the fact that he was able to have more utility as a medium slow bowler in his latter years, he was still a shadow of the cricketer that I recalled from the early to mid 80s.

    2nd Match - Bangladesh v India

I do take your point that this is a bit of a farce although flying from Karachi to Dubai isn't really much of a journey (a lick over 2 hours flight). The flight to Rawalpindi (Islamabad) is just over 3 hours and obviously is a good deal more inconvenient. I remember being in the middle east (Abu...

    1st Match - Pakistan v New Zealand

Naseem is really on it. Bowling quickly. Shame we don't see this version of him and Shaheen more in tests. On a Pakistani pitch suchas this, they will be a tough nut to crack.

***official*** England whiteball tour of india January 2025***

The performances in the 3rd test of the Sri Lanka and New Zealand series respectively were really poor and in some respects almost seemed to be downing tools. As I said above, the selection of Hull based on very little was poor and seemed to take the match and opposition for granted.

***official*** England whiteball tour of india January 2025***

Yeah, I make you right on that. Stokes hasn't been part of the white ball set up since the world cup. You would have thought that after this tournament, they will need a bit of an overhaul of the players that they have for the white ball side.
