    ***Official***Semi-Final #1- India vs New Zealand - November 15th - Wankhede, Mumbai (D/N)

Both of them have had to become a completely different batsman to what they used to be in this process. It's a long process and being an ATG helps with it as you don't get perma-dropped even after being crappy for a long time.

    ***Official***Semi-Final #1- India vs New Zealand - November 15th - Wankhede, Mumbai (D/N)

NZ might have missed a trick here by not playing Jamieson (is he fit?) , he might not be as great in LOIs but does have a bit of hold over the India batsman.

Making All-time Test Batting Averages Fully Comparable

As I mentioned in the post, I actually like your method even if there is a certain degree of subjectivity to it, so I have no reason to give for why the general wisdom should continue to prevail. That said, your methods focus completely on era adjustment and do not take into account the...

3 out of the 4 Semi Finalists from 2019 are in the 2023 semi finals

Bruhs, is one thread not enough for all this nonsense pessimistic randi-rona.

Y/N - you could explain Net run rate in detail to someone without googling

It does have the disadvantage of involving guesswork in a system that's currently hard defined by things that actually happened. Now I am not claiming that it's perfect at the moment but trying to equate a batting first win with a chasing win is suspicious in general anyway, while batting...

    ***Official***Match #38- Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka - November 6th - Delhi (D/N)

What does it matter when the strap broke anyway? Clearly BD wouldn't have appealed if the extra time utilized for getting the new helmet wasn't required. I would have zero problems if they actually appealed purely because Angelo was late but it was a **** act once the reason he couldn't take...

    ***Official***Match #37- India vs South Africa - November 5th - Kolkata

Just isn't the batsman he used to be.

    ***Official***Match #35 - New Zealand vs Pakistan - November 4th - Bengaluru

People like cribbing about DLS, but the numbers they pull from their ass are generally far worse. It's a fine system and the correct result was produced today as far as the actual cricket that happened is concerned.

Yeah incredible work from him, not easy to look like favorites while chasing 400 but he made it happen.

    ***Official***Match #34 - Netherlands vs Afghanistan - November 3rd - Lucknow (D/N)

If India wins this world cup, then given the winners of the two past world cups they should change the name to Trophy.

    The Points Table/Standings

It's because their opener averages 8.

:lol: Looks like SL might not win this.

Find a better bowler peak (min 33 Tests) than this (protip, you can't)

It's minimum 33 matches. People who have more than 33 had a better average over a (33 + n) match stretch in their career compared to any 33 match stretch in their career.

Find a better bowler peak (min 33 Tests) than this (protip, you can't)

So I tested it according to your 33 match criterion and it's not particularly special by average, 11 bowlers (including Waqar himself) have done better. It's by far the best peak by SR though. Removed the guys who retired before 1950 (Edit - Actually I missed removing them, but there's only 1...

Find a better bowler peak (min 33 Tests) than this (protip, you can't)

This is not 33 matches, but (40 innings + 5 years) and Waqar had the 8th best peak here. http://www.cricketweb.net/forum/threads/test-batsmen-and-bowlers-peaks-criteria-at-least-5-years-and-at-least-40-innings.88915/page-3#post-4865804

Miscellaneous News (Not to be confused with the Drama Thread)

Honestly, I think the template of 2 pacers + 1 spinner + 1 can bat pacer + Jadeja + Pandya makes a lot of sense, we just don't have the correct guy for the template, or maybe we do for some matches given how high variance Thakur is, but normally we don't.

I didn't expect anything from Bangladesh and I am still disappointed.
