*Official* New Zealand in England 2015

This Ravi umpire has made some blunders this match. Anyway, I don't much agree with current ruling. If he gave the batsman not out and England referred Anderson would still be at the wicket, but since he was given out it stays with the umpire. How can you have the same ball have two different...

Bowlers should have five overs in T20s

If a bowler is bowling well and batsmen are struggling against him, before you know it, he is whipped off the attack. Five overs max will at least allow a bowler three overs a spell (as opposed to one or two).

It's Tough Being Me - The Kevin Pietersen Story

English cricket keeps shooting itself in the foot. Alistair Cook should have been sacked along with Moores. Not defeating the WI alone is worthy of not having his captaincy renewed. KP would have injected some glamour to an otherwise mostly dull batting lineup (Bell can be eye-catching at...

Does anyone get the awful feeling cricket is a dying sport?

To be fair, in this country people only seem to care about football. Besides Wimbledon, nobody cares for any other tennis that runs for the rest of the year. People follow the rugby World Cup and one or two high profile matches but not much else during the rugby calendar. In athletics its the...

Does anyone get the awful feeling cricket is a dying sport?

I I love cricket. But it seems to me white Brits outside of rural environs and fee paying schools are no longer interested in the game. I blame a lack of free TV exposure, the huge array of choices kids have these days a part of the problem. But there is no doubt, at least it's true for the...

Does anyone get the awful feeling cricket is a dying sport?

Its rather similar to what's happening with baseball in America. I can't help feel both sports are on their last legs. I do understand it's not just cricket, the huge choices people have these days mean all sports are suffering, but one gets the feeling cricket is declining much faster than...

England are playing 10 ODIs this summer

I agree about people not getting excited about the neutral matches in a tri series (hence the problem of staginga tri series) unless they are very good teams. Australia and NZ this summer would have made for a really good tri series but I guess they weren't to know how well NZ would be in the...

England are playing 10 ODIs this summer

Make that 11 ODIs in the summer. They are playing an one off match against the Irish as well. I suppose the Irish game will be competitive because Ireland will want to win to keep proving they are worthy of a place in the World Cup. As others are saying, this should have been a tri-series. A...

England are playing 10 ODIs this summer

Five against the Kiwis and five against the Aussies. What purpose do these matches serve other than to generate gate money and fill up Sky TV schedule? These are equivalent to international football friendlies that England play from time to time whch football fans don't really care much for...

Could an American team made up of minor league baseballers become T20 world beaters?

Baseball is more a power game. Someone like Sachin Tendulkar would be awful at baseball whereas A-Rod could be good at cricket if he picked up the game. So while I think cricketers would pick up baseball easier, very few would make a mark on baseball but more baseball players could have an...

    IPL 2015 Thread

I am not sure if some of these Aussies really want to be in India this long. They want the big contracts but don't want to spend eight weeks there I don't think. Finch feigning injury is a sign. I think the IPL needs to cut the length to about 5 weeks. Don't get me wrong, the they will still be...

Could an American team made up of minor league baseballers become T20 world beaters?

One aspect why hitting in baseball is more difficult than it seems is because baseball players try to hit the ball as hard as possible much of the time. They would have a far higher connection rate if they attempted to hit the ball with less power.

Could an American team made up of minor league baseballers become T20 world beaters?

I reckon some of those guys can be trained to become highly effective T20 players. Baseball players hit the ball a lot further than cricketers do (I know a six is a six irrespective of distance) and I think after a couple of years of being taught the ropes in T20 cricket, they could become a...

How can cricket be made faster?

I have noticed that in baseball they are taking measures to speed up the game. MLB will force batters to keep at least one foot inside the mound, to stop them from taking a walkabout after a pitch.

    Women commentators at the IPL

Was watching highlights of of the IPL on their site yesterday to catch McCullum's and Gayle's innings and noticed female commentators. Did a Google search and it seems the IPL is employing four female commentators. Not that I watch IPL but Indians are really ruining the game. Employing female...

    IPL 2015 Thread

Williamson is a good test and ODI player but I think there were better buys out there for this format. Is Henriques in the IPL? There are a host of Aussies, South Africans, New Zelanders, Englishmen that would be more suitable for this format than Williamson, and I am not talking about just the...

Rajasthan Royals player reports IPL fixing approach

BBC Sport - Rajasthan Royals player reports IPL fixing approach By the way, looking at the scores of today's match. It seems like the Sunrisers never truly attempted to chase down Super Kings' score. Can we read something into this?

*Official* New Zealand in England 2015

This series should have been a thre match series. I guess this was planned probably a couple of years ago when NZ weren't as good as they are now. By the way, I just watched a bit of the highlights of the IPL on their site and I got to say these modern bats are making a mockery of the game...

Will test cricket survive into the 2030s?

Another way test cricket could ensure prosperity is if we have more T20 and ODI specialists (batting) making up the core of the test side. Let's be honest, we would much rather see Hales in the England test team (not going to happen anytime soon) than Trott. As good as Tendulkar was...

How can cricket be made faster?

Forget about 20 overs an hour, that's unrealistic (especially with the morons currently at ICC), but why not set 16 overs an hour in the test and ODI and 18 in the T20s with harsh penalties for teams failiing to bowl the overs in time. The fine could include the match fee for all players on the...
