Best No.3 Test Batsman(Dravid or Amla or Ponting)

Yeah for sure, he batted at 4 for the majority of his career but from memory I think he played about 30 tests at No3.

Best No.3 Test Batsman(Dravid or Amla or Ponting)

All time best No3 is a total no contest, Bradman avg 103 in that position. Probably my all time favorite No3 would have to be GS Chappell. Statistically there were better but probably the most elegant and technically correct batsman I`ve seen

Best No.3 Test Batsman(Dravid or Amla or Ponting)

Averages of those players when batting at No3. Ponting - 60.34 Dravid - 55.71 Amla - 49.82 Amla has a long way to go before being mentioned in the same class as Ponting or Dravid

Ball tampering, does every team do it?

Most umpires dont let the fact that a player is known to walk have any influence on their decision, or at least they shouldnt. Just because a player admits to being out when he knows that he has hit the ball doesnt mean that when he doesnt walk he hasnt hit it, just that he is unsure if he hit...

    Michael Clarke Discussion thread

Name one other Australian player under 30 who has 13 test centuries 17 50s and an average better than 50. edit. PS at the same stage in his career Ponting had 9 centuries.

    Michael Clarke Discussion thread

Clarke is, by head and shoulders, the best batsman of his generation (Aussie). He is also a very, very good captain with a wonderful cricket brain. Yes at the moment his batting tempo needs to intensify in the shortest form of the game but the thing about great players is when they have a...

    *Official* Pakistan in Australia

Spot on. I would be looking at sending more of the David Hussey types than fast bowlers. It is the slower bowlers who will have the biggest impact in the Carribean. Australia did very well last night on a pitch that was a pace bowlers dream but put those same bowlers on the dead tracks in the...

    *Official* Pakistan in Australia

Well I just finished watching a delayed telecast of the T20 and I thought it was one of the most entertaining matches I`ve seen for a while. Definitely the best display of express bowling in a long, long time. As was seen in the domestic T20 competition you always have a chance while Taity has...

Ball tampering, does every team do it?

No, the stupidest thing in cricket is pretenders dribbling on about things they know nothing about. The thing all of you non-playing posters have to understand is when you walk, as I always do, the umpire doesnt make a decision. The batsman doesnt stand there for ten minutes and then decide to...

Ball tampering, does every team do it?

Do you actually play cricket? If you walk the umpire isnt going to call you back and say "Dont go, I dont think you were out." Once you walk the ump doesnt have to make any decision whatsoever. The drop of the head and the repeated beating of the ground with your bat usually gives it away in...

    *Official* Pakistan in Australia

The obvious choice for captain of the Aussie T20 team is Cameron White. He has a pretty impressive record as Victoria`s skipper in the Big Bash. He should also be included in the test squad IMHO.

    "You Can't Teach Judgment"

I think a lot has to do with parental encouragement and what kind of coach they have at a junior level. A lot of parents wont let their kids practice obsessively, which is kind of a prerequisite for early success at the higher levels, and a lot of coaches dont have the ability to spot potential...

New Feature : UDRS: To review or not to review

I was appalled when they announced the introduction of thr UDRS in test cricket. With the game the way it is at the moment the last thing it needed was something else to slow it down. Now that it has been in place a while I have seen nothing that would make me change my mind. According to the...

Ball tampering, does every team do it?

It has been my experience that lbw decisions pretty much even out, some go for you some go against you but the only person who is in the right position to decide (without tv cameras) is the ump. So just take what your given and get on with the game.

Ball tampering, does every team do it?

He should abide by the umpires decision and get on with the game. EDIT> Come to think of it the non striker shouldnt be in any position to see if the bowler has bowled a no ball, he should have his bat grounded at the end of his outstreched arm and ready to start backing up as soon as the...

Ball tampering, does every team do it?

I totally agree with you on the issue of walking. I, personally, have always walked and encourage the kids that I coach to do the same. If you know you`ve hit the ball and it has been taken by the keeper then your own concience should tell you that you are out. I agree that not to do so is well...

    Ponting - ODI Retirement?

Punter already has three consecutive WC wins as a player. 1999, 2003, 2007.

Ball tampering, does every team do it?

I wouldnt say we Australians are less likely to cheat than any other nationality, I am sure there are other countries who share our views on this subject. What I can say, without fear of contradiction, is that we grow up in a culture that teaches us to play to win but not at the cost of your...

    Correcting Actions

I had a kid in the U12s last year who had a suspect action and one of the other kids actually came up with an idea that went a long way to correcting the problem. Seems this little genius`s brother had been through some elbow surgery and had a brace that was hinged and had a protractor on the...
