***Official***THE FINAL- India vs Australia - November 19th - Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad (D/N)

an old classic but rather simplistic and doesn't factor in too much other than the score and number of overs, nothing else in fact!

I'm ready to write the aussies off again and again if it produces wickets!

aussies bat first, make 270, India chase it down and the blame goes on decision and dew diligence aussies bowl first, make little inroads, India post 350, blame goes on decision and probably venue think the bottom line is aussies started with maybe 1 in 4, 1 in 5 chance of winning and don't...

I take with a pinch of salt what captains say they would have done, "I would have batted anyway" doesn't ever sound fully sincere even if it is I think a number of won tosses suppose to much on what will happen, bottom line is if India batted first and got off to a flier aussies could be facing...

Who are the neutrals supporting in the final?

to be fair McClown shouldn't have been appointed, or "King Kev", Hodgson and others, plenty of those before and after. Turnip hid behind the availability of She-Ra, or lack of, and Gazza's fitness, or lack of, there were plenty of decent footballers around and whilst The Sun Always Shines On TV...

Who are the neutrals supporting in the final?

tournaments weren't always easy to qualify for, and didn't always have 30+ teams. has been some improvement in overall standards, the Germans were good sides though even reaching the Euros in say 1988 (England) and 1992 (England/Scotland) was no mean feat, some bang on about what current...

Who are the neutrals supporting in the final?

unless aussies rattle Indian cages, BCCI, players and fans, is set to be a dull event. Only way I'd raise much enthusiasm as a neutral for the final is if India weren't innit, it just feels like it was given to India as hosts (three times it will be thus hosted in a mere 20 years of which there...

was looking at the figures of Cummins and Starc in the World Cup (both 36-37 averages) and in India vs India, probably won't leave Cumming out but ought to consider it aussies had India 2/3 in their group game (that's 3 wickets for aussies who don't get the whole concept bowling figures are...

    ***Official***Semi-Final #1- India vs New Zealand - November 15th - Wankhede, Mumbai (D/N)

best time to make changes is before a winning formula stops working. batting is a bit thin down the order, IF their final opponents make early inroads could need a bit more substance down the order and I'd suggest they got to play kiwis, and even if they didn't, chances are the bowling attack...

I could buy "small pool of players" if there weren't 18 first class counties and excluding players at the World Cup, could argue the "pick of the crop", 27 I think it was players have played ODIs 2021 to 2023 I think I said in another thread - nearly three teams' worth of players I'd argue if...

think we've seen enough innings where batsmen don't seem to be doing a great deal, plodding along a bit, and then suddenly cut loose to suggest it is possible to accumulate for a bit, just can't for too long chasing anything well over 300 let alone all but 400

is also a danger without PP overs that leaving a huge onslaught for last 15-20 overs could end up with such regular wicket loss all any batsman can do, at best, is a cameo 20-30 and out which would take some coordination to make work ie they'd all have to come in, hit from the get go, get 20-30...

Which Part-Time/Golden Arm Bowler Will Take the MoSt Wickets in this World Cup?

should have thought he would be an obvious one, but didn't turn out so. I think Livingstone as others suggested was meant to be some kind of all-rounder, his bowling wasn't great and his batting was almost left at home!

and the RRR is at 9 and a fraction an over, extras will need to up its game if they're to chase it and no Neesham to "do a Maxwell".... when is Kohli going to come on for a few overs? I suspect if he did he'd buy a wicket

    Assessment of the World Cup

bilaterals are generally boring, only real advantage is more likely to get as big a crowd as possible because one side is the home/host side and if it were say England, South Africa and Pakistan in England then South Africa vs Pakistan might draw less crowd (although frankly I'd be surprised if...

    Assessment of the World Cup

I agree : Tests : only financially viable for a few teams, still an elite select few play it and some not much at all - the big guns won't play more than one-off or 2 Tests against a lot of sides, certainly not the format to 'aspire to' as fans of it might make you think ODIs : much more...

    Rank the World Cups

you call football "soccer" says all needs to be known about the poster, and spare me the usual about the origins etc, only two types reference it as "soccer" and those are ones whose country plays a sport that is called that but involves as much if not more handling of the ball than kicking it...

    Rank the World Cups

England simply didn't turn the corner otherwise they, and Pakistan who were what they are, great when great, poor when not, might have made the placings less certain. I think the venue didn't help either, could have engraved India's name in the semis from the second it was scheduled in India...
