Lakmal still going - 9th over on the trot. 87% of his deliveries have been Good or Full. Another Bell edge falls short. :-O

THIS MORNING they are better than the stats, but can they keep it going all day and can the change bowlers support the accuracy shown by the opening bowlers? Russel Arnold on Sky has said that they find it difficult to concentrate for long periods.

Maharoof starts with a no ball which Cook tickles down to fine leg for 4.

I know three wickets have fallen, but only 12 overs in a shade more than an hour is woeful. But then it's about average these days.

Looks like Sri Lanka's bowl first decision has been vindicated. Low 80's mph bowlers getting lbws against top class batsman - wtf is goin on?

Lakmal is bowling as wide, if not wider than he did at Cardiff if that is actually possible.

Sri Lanka open up with one bowler with an average of 58 and another with an average of 50. I bet Strauss and Cook are quaking in their boots.

The weather should be fine and clear tomorrow with light winds, temp probably around 24-26 so more need of sunbloc than a jacket IMO. An East wind will be blowing on Sat & this will turn NE for Sunday but no rain interruptions are expected. Monday and Tuesday are a bit uncertain at this point...

I hardly think that it counts as 'news' that Bopara was disappointed not to be selected. Surely it's a natural reaction to be disappointed when you're not selected for a test match. So was Steve Finn no doubt disappointed when he learned he wasn't going to play at Cardiff. A case of the media...

The wickets at Lords are generally flat but far from the lifeless track that Cardiff showed on days 1-3, England's tall bowlers will extract a lot of bounce out of Lords and anyone who hasn't batted there can easily be surprised by the 'slope'. Should be a fun game. The sun's going to shine...

England's bowling attack has to be one of the most potent in world cricket at the moment, and the strength in depth is considerable too. Anderson, Onions, Bresnan all injured or just recovered from injury. Shahzad, Woakes and Dernbach also of an excellent standard and Finn almost certain to play...

That was a fantastic aggressive bowling performance by all three bowlers. Outstanding England, just outstanding!

Perera out! Great bowling by Broad, fantastic catch by Bell. An object lesson in how to exploit a batsman's weakness.

What a farce - was no-one calling 'mine' loudly! Calm down England.
