4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

We'll probably lose a few to grubbers at some point tomorrow. Small miracle it hasn't happened already.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Counting on Pant getting out to a reckless shot tomorrow even on the one leg.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Yes, we are very accomplished on our own pitches.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

He has 9 fifties in 14 Tests there at an average of 35. Not ideal but not much worse than Sangakkara's 35 in India or Sachin's 40 odd in SA, to quote just two. People make out like he's Ponting-in-India level.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Dude, at some point you have to acknowledge you're supporting a desi team . I mean, look around you (if you're in the country...or even if you're not because we're everywhere lol). The kind of austere professionalism you'd like to see is never coming out of today's India.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Great spirit in this English team. Easier when things are going well but in general that's probably the biggest achievement of this era. They'll need it later in the year too.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

A lot of it has to be muscle memory and the instinct to attack which is all they've ever known. You can't expect them to be conservative while also pulling off the outrageous stuff that makes them attractive. Hard to untrain that conditioning. Classical batsmen were brought up to only go after...

    Ricky Ponting vs Jasprit Bumrah

Ponting. Would've had the wood over Bumrah too. One of the most imperious players of pace in his prime.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

At what point does a hundred in this situation change from a "downhill-skiing" one to something a little more worthy? Deficit < 100 with a chance to save the game?

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

That Jaiswal wicket looks so bad. So many things an opener should rarely be doing and never in the first over of the innings in overcast conditions.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

That's a jaffa from Woakes. As close to a perfect delivery without actually getting a wicket. Next one stays shin-low

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

They're not. Good God man, they could've been 2-1 coming into this Test. The last two days have been a mental disintegration on par with the worst we've seen from an India team in years. Out of the blue too. You would've hoped Pant's antics would've galvanized them somewhat as a group but to put...

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Someone on cricinfo: Ganesh: "The eternal optimist in me still thinks India will manage a draw. Expect the performance of a lifetime from Gill here." Eternal chutiya more like.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

They shouldn't have. A side with any degree of mental wherewithal should've taken the third Test in its stride and used the ten day layoff to collect itself for another go at a still very live series. Instead we've been presented with the worst performance of the last however many years. What...

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

At his best he's the finest allround cricketer I've ever seen. Too bad we've lost out on some of what should've been his prime bowling years but I hope he has one last big effort in him for Aus.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

They're doing to us what we did to them in the 2nd Test. And so they should. This one's done. Only thing that can make me watch this if Pant comes out to make a stonewalling classic for the ages.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

India have put in the kind of performance reserved for dead rubbers one game in advance. Wonder what the dressing room was like during that nice 10 day-long break between Tests for them to turn up like this.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

That also kinda proves it's an anomaly and doesn't necessarily make him a lesser player in light of his achievements elsewhere. Sure, it'll be nice to round out his record with a few hundreds, but he's still managed quite a few 50s there. The real blemish on his career is averaging 24 in...

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

The worry is he's looked spent despite the 10 day break so even if India manage the unlikeliest outcome imaginable here, he's hardly going to be in any shape for the quick turnaround at the Oval.
