5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Oh this guy's very white. I always thought Benedict was some Uncle D'souza type Goan guy.

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Yeah I was a bit harsh on Akash in the immediate aftermath of this Test but on reflection, he played matchwinning roles in the two games that India won. Can't ask more than that from a guy who's 10 Test matches into his career.

Don't forget Akash. Wonder where that ranks among the most crucial innings ever played by a nightwatchman.

India should appoint jason Gillespie or andy flower as red ball coach

"Look, we in this team never give up we play for India and one thing about playing for India is that when you play for India you never give up."

First I'm hearing of him. Eden Apple Tom, what a name!

What we learned from the 5th Test

I'm just happy we squeaked through here. Three losses to Eng thumping down 370-run targets would've been seriously emasculating.

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Brook will emerge from Aus either a drastically changed i.e. humbled batsman or the most arrogant, impetuous one since Viv. The future of world cricket rests on Cummins & co.'s shoulders.

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

A word of praise for Jadeja, Sai, and Easwaran on the boundary. Guys were absolutely flying out there.

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Siraj aside, India still has some seam bowling issues to sort out. The clock is always running on Bumrah. Prasidh is ridiculously inconsistent but has wicket-taking ability so worth persisting with. Akash I'm afraid has been shown up as the series wore on and his efforts in the outfield, in...

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Don't think anyone had Siraj completely eclipsing Bumrah on their cards when this series started. Surely one of the great feats of fast bowling endurance in recent times. Must've bowled close to 200 overs on unforgiving surfaces.

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Missed all of it after Brook-Root made things look inevitable yesterday afternoon. Couldn't stand the heartburn that set in with that Siraj catch. Woke up 30 mins shy of lunchtime in Eng, made a very conscious effort to not check phone for at least 10 mins. Finally did expecting the expected and...

Congrats on the 3-1, England. Off the cricket for a while now 🙏

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

I think I'll go do my groceries now. Won't check phone for the next 90 mins. We'll know one way or other by then lol

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

I wonder sometimes. Does being in the middle scramble your thinking so much that they don't see what the rest of us do? I'm not talking about the skill aspect of playing the game at the highest level which is obviously beyond our comprehension. But you'd think there shouldn't be this much...

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Imagine how many fewer Tests Warne would've played if Aus dropped him every time seam-friendly conditions appeared.

    *Official* Pro-Wrestling Thread II

I didn't much follow Bret's time in WCW but was him calling out Goldberg's full name part of their program or just a personal quirk that's become a meme 25 years later? It's hilarious either way.

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Harry Brook is a legit superstar though. The only thing I can foresee stalling his career is a bad tour of Australia.

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Yeah, they weren't going anywhere playing sedately. Kept India in with a sniff even when they weren't losing wickets. Reverting to type has instantly put that pressure back on us. If we're good enough we'll respond else well done, England I guess.

He's a reactive captain. Follows the field around. Needs to develop some conviction in his thinking.
