New Zealand- #1 ranked test side for the first time ever

They seem to have that set template of winning games at home where they finally get the job done late in the last session of day 5 with a back-breaking effort by Wagner (this match was an exception of course).

New Zealand- #1 ranked test side for the first time ever

Maybe pretending to not like Test cricket because it's not financially lucrative and not playing long series is the galaxy brain strategy to reach No. 1.

New Zealand- #1 ranked test side for the first time ever

A nice 3-4 match series between NZ and Australia in NZ would be awesome. Then again, I was looking forward to last year's series and by the end it became torture.. I do think it would be very competitive this time though. Just don't gift wickets to ****ing Lyon, NZ..

The Williamson-Jamieson contest for MoTM is the most interesting thing about this match, Kane brought himself on for a cheap tailend wicket.

Definitely a chance IMO. Wagner was already bowling beautifully and Southee put in some excellent spells too. Jamieson in this form would have been a handful. As India have shown, if you're bowling them out for 200 rather than 400 in the first innings, even with a crap batting lineup, you only...

Another one for Jamieson Giving him the MoTS and Williamson the MoTM would be a fair compromise I reckon, though both deserve both awards.

    let’s remember some guys

The other noteworthy left-handed middle order batsman #guy we had was Hrishikesh Kanitkar, who got to play for 3 years off and on based on hitting one boundary. Even managed to blag two Tests in Australia.

The protege Ravindra Jadeja vs Shane Warne his early days mentor

Better hair (that he's able to grow on his own), a face that doesn't look like melted plastic, and a cool moustache as well. Some guys have all the luck.

They can beat him on clay. They can't beat him on Philippe Chatrier. The conditions were supposed to be less helpful for him this year with the time of the year and less bounce. Still didn't drop a set.

Why was Malcolm Marshall so middling in ODIs?

I vaguely remember he played in the '92 World Cup and it was generally seen as his swansong and he was probably well past his best by then. Rather be the clear GOAT Test bowler and middling in ODIs than pretty close to the top but not quite there in both though :p
