    Injury Prevention

I guess this could be a personal question and a broad one. How would you prevent injury? I personally weigh in at 118kgs (~18st 8lbs) but am not fat. I go to the gym and have very large and dense bones. My Granddad was a professional South African swimmer, Mum professional South African...

    Fielding positions and motivating players

Not sure if I'm allowed to do this, but heres an article on keeping the team loud and motivated in the field: How to Avoid Going Quiet in the Field..

    Temperament

So I've got the hardest game of the season coming up on Saturday (45 overs). We're currently third in the league and we're playing second. Unfortunately our first game of the season was against the team who are in first, and we lost when we really shouldn't have! Anyway, straight wins from then...

    Your Cricket Season

I'm pretty sure I'm the only one keeping this going and I'm new here.. Does anybody else play weekly cricket?! So my first XI team played Sway CC on Saturday, we bowled them out for 56, and Marvin Atapattu's cousin (his actual cousin, not a racist remark in the slightest) was the only batsman...

    Fielding positions and motivating players

Motivation can be found from anywhere within a game.. An early wicket, a good piece of fielding, a good shot if batting etc etc.. I'm sure the motivation in your teams case is only really lost in the field.. To combat this I would say keep it loud.. Constantly be talking in the field, generally...

    Your Cricket Season

Sounds like you could be quite a hassle to bat against, nice one! Well at least your full toss wasn't too off length if it landed at the base of the stumps.. I remember a game I hit 164, and two balls from the end got a stupidly high full toss that was so slow and dropping, went to swipe across...

    Improving Your Fitness for Cricket

I know this may be a little bit in advance at the moment but over the winter I'm looking to severely increase my cricketing fitness! I've never ever been 100% fit for cricket and I would like to be to see how far I can get.. I've been told that this is the only thing holding me back from...

Sounds good! What do you bowl? I'm guessing it was a shorter game? Maybe 20 overs each way?

    Your Cricket Season

Well I guess you could say I've had a pretty good week in and out of cricket.. First of all, the Isle Of White Festival was an absolute blast, and I've definitely got the festival bug! Secondly, I hit another top score on Wednesday with a score of 164 in 13.2, 8 ball overs :).. Unfortunately...

    Any tips?

Front foot.. Like the above image, my front foot is out of line, leaving a possibility of inside edge onto stumps or if the ball was straighter the possibility of being clean bowled... If you feel like your front foot positioning is okay, I'd check your head positioning.. This should pretty...

    New bat?

I've had a few bats that say that and I've always knocked it in as well! Never trust what it says and always use your own instinct.. They've prepared it by rolling and not knocking in so it'll need to be done! Yeah my Hunts County is awesome.. Just got back from using it for the first time in...

    New bat?

I think the tip here is more to knock in whatever bat you get properly.. It seems as if your friend didn't if they've all broken on first use.. I've bought a Hunts County Caraelex (or however you spell it) and have been knocking it in now for about 2 weeks, 30 mins a night.. So yeah, prepare...

    Your Cricket Season

How did everyones game go today? My first XI played in a rural ground just outside Southampton and it was a cracker! Nicest ground I've ever player on I think, solid wicket and perfect outfield! Slightly uphill on one of the straight boundaries, but it's nice to run once in a while I guess! We...

crack on toe of the new bat..

Not exactly sure what white tape you mean.. The only thing you want to do is make sure that splinter doesn't get bigger.. I used to just use black grip tape, which worked.. But I'd recommend going as strong as you can with the tape so you don't have to use as much..

crack on toe of the new bat..

Couple of options really.. You could take it back to the retailer you bought it from and see if they'll send it off for repairs or offer another bat.. This takes time though and you'll possibly need to knock in a new bat if they give you one... I'd probably go for this option if you've only had...

18, never played properly before, where to start?

Oh okay, where abouts are you from? If there's opportunities for 1 on 1 training somewhere, I'm sure there will be opportunities to rent a net or bowling machine.. Hopefully all goes well!

18, never played properly before, where to start?

Hi MCC111, What I would do in this situation is get a mate or two and see if you can hire a net or something.. Where I live theres a cricket centre where they rent out nets and bowlings machines. If you've got somewhere you can do that then that would be ideal!
