***Official*** Australia in South Africa + South Africa in Australia 2016/17

Damn shame to see Steyn go out like that, after Warner's wicket he looked like he was on song to get a few more. Been reading a lot of comments around saying this could possibly be the last time we'll see him bowl, hopefully he can pull a Dennis Lillee at this end of his career. Who do you...

    Cricket Books

I've come across another historical piece of work, titled "Cricket", it is a collection of essays regarding different aspects of the game, and is edited by Horace.G.Hutchinson (a professional golfer back in the day). It's in the public domain and is available online (via this link). I haven't...

    **Official** England in Bangladesh 2016

Really happy for Bangladesh, they've unearthed 2 quality up and coming bowlers in Mustafiz Rahman and now Mehedi Miraz. I'm hoping both will go on to really solidify themselves as great bowlers. I think that's what every team needs; associates included, a quality bowler who can flourish in...

    CLASSIC Opinion Pieces, Classic Players.

An Old New Zealand player by the name of Daniel Reese had a book titled "Was It All Cricket?" and it's available online via this link There's a lot of great first hand accounts of some players from the early 1900's and even before then

    Biggest "draw" in cricket history?

You saw Hadlee live!? Man that must've been awesome.

Random things you may not know

Here's a random but not special anecdote; I'm sure most people who've read about Bill O'Reilly have heard the story of how in a net session, early in his career, Arthur Mailey advised him to change his grip which O'Reilly politely rejected. However, Charlie "The Terror" Turner (A past bowling...

    CLASSIC Opinion Pieces, Classic Players.

I'm sure most of you guys have probably seen this article of an interview with Kortwright, but it's a fantastic brief outlook into his era of cricket. It's a shame there were never any action photographs of the bowler supposedly faster than Larwood.

The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

... I'll take my chances, they can draw lots between themselves. But If I HAD to pick a keeper and ruin my paired line-up (Except Barnes of course), I would swap McCabe with Oldfield, I guess.

The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

My ATG team of pairs based on no logic...at all: 1. Hobbs 2. Sutcliffe 3. Barry Richards 4. Graeme Pollock 5. Bradman 6. Stan McCabe 7. Wasim 8. Waqar 9. Andy Roberts 10. Malcolm Marshall 11. SF Barnes

    Best ever Associate bowler

That's pretty cool! Didn't know they've played club cricket in NZ. There is a recent interview with both on Cricinfo, with PVM saying he hopes to lead the attack with Kingma...for 2020. 4 year wait to see Van Meekeren on the big stage again and to see Kingma for the first time, is depressing.

    Best ever Associate bowler

I remember reading good things about Van Meekeren, of Netherlands, a few years ago. Glad he showcased his talent today. There's also another upcoming Dutch bowler, Vivian Kingma. I think he's in this World T20 squad but I don't think he was given any games. Sucks that these guys probably won't...

Starc, chameera, amir, rabada or Joseph

On the topic of Rabada, does anyone else think he and Kyle Abbott will have a great bowling partnership together? Rabada and Abbott, Abbott and Rabada. Has a nice ring to it

Starc, chameera, amir, rabada or Joseph

Agree with Gob, Starc was starting to look like a test bowler in that last test (?) against New Zealand a few months ago. Damn shame he got injured as bad as he did. Hopefully on his return he hasn't lost his mojo. Amir hasn't lost anything, can't wait to see him in tests. Rabada is killing it...

Historical footage: Impressions of some greats

Just rediscovered this doc last night. Can't remember if someone has uploaded this earlier in this thread or in another, so i apologize if it's a repost. Some great footage throughout and an interview with The Tiger himself, O'Reilly.

    Cricket Books

I'm not sure if you can use newspapers for your essay? I've done it loads in the recent ones I've had for uni. Check this out Some old digitized newspapers, you may find an article or 2 worthy of your time.

    Cricket Books

Any of you history lovers out there should check out this cassette, Cricket: The Golden Age (BBC Collection). Not a book or even an audio book, but just 2 seperate cassettes with interviews conducted by E.W Swanton with some oldies of the game. Legends include Charles Kortright himself! Sydney...

    Your Boy

One of my bois is The Mitch Johnson. Even though at the time I wasn't following cricket much, I heard/saw how everyone was talking crap about him etc., etc. Especially the Barmy Army's songs. Then the Ashes 2013/14 happened. I remember seeing a few comments about his inclusion and how he was...

Historical footage: Impressions of some greats

Never seen the clip of him actually talking about his technique, mostly just the silent ones or with a narrator. Just to add, another video i stumbled on with Hobbs talking technique. However there's no footage.

    Cricket All-Stars 2015 - Sachin's Blasters vs Warne's Warriors

That's a good point. I never thought about getting some local players involved too. But it is a start though. I just really hope the stadiums won't be near empty. The embarrassment of that would just strengthen the general view that cricket is a boring sport etc etc.

    Cricket All-Stars 2015 - Sachin's Blasters vs Warne's Warriors

I have to agree that because of the older players; athleticism etc., won't be showcased the best. Hopefully it will create SOME kind of interest and curiosity from the Americans. Then if it does well we could have future exhibitions with the current crop of players. Possibly influencing the...
