***Official** Sri Lanka in New Zealand

The pitches should be pretty green for the tests, I don't see SL handling them well at all. I'm looking forward to seeing how Jayawardane in particular goes, but overall, especially considering recent form in NZ I don't see them dominating. 1-0 to NZ for the tests(with the Wellington severely...

    kiwi odi team revamp

I think Vettori at 6 may be a bit risky but I wouldn't say its all that unstable. IMO he's a solid batsman who can play responsibly when the situation calls for it. I wouldn't like to back him when he needs to up the run-rate for extended periods though. He'd be invaluble in the middle overs...

    2006/07 Cricket Idol

I reckon players like Watson should be included if they're yet to meet their full potential, which I'm sure he has yet to do.

    **Official** Semi Finals and Final

I'm really confident the Kiwis are gonna pull this one off, especially if we chase a total. I figure that while our top order may be a bit shakey against them the teams still really well engineered for a run chase, especially with the likes of Vettori and McCullum who always seem to produce the...

Group B - Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka

Would it work that way? NZ's probably going to qualify top of the group based on our superior net run rate.

Group B - Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka

I'm worried, esp when the number ten has a 73 average:p

Group B - Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka

Congrats to the Black Caps, took advantadge of dodgy conditions and wern't put off by what would have been a sub-standard score on any other pitch.

    Battle of the Test captains

Fleming He's Captained 78 matches to Worrel's 15. In that time he has led with a New Zealand team that has, at times, been frustratingly close to being World beaters. At other times the team has been downright lacking in talent and ravaged by injury. In particular before John Bracewell took...

*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

I think at the moment its definatly Vettori's batting thats keeping him an automatic selection in the test side. In ODIs, however, he has remained extremely effective as a bowler. I reckon given the lack of test cricket in the coming year Vettori will continue to perform well in ODIs and further...

Unheralded Part of The Game: Fielding

The Black Caps got that Yank in for fielding coaching last summer, he had a massive effect. I remeber all the flat return throws from the outfield and underarm flicks in close that were consistantly used in that West Indies ODI series. In particurlar the match where we restricted WI to 10 runs...

    Most Underated from 95 - 06?

I don't know if MacGill is massivly underated. I think people accept that without Warne as a contempory he would have gone on to achieve great things for Austrailia and that he would almost be an automatic selection in every other test side. Perhaps its a matter of Warne being over-rated?

    Battle of the Test captains

Its such a close call, how much should extra-captaincy roles and events play in the descision? If they are to be important then it has to be Kardar, despite my love of Coney's commentary and my natural patriotic tendancies to vote for him. I'm not familiar with Kardar as a captain at all, but I...

    # 6 for 1986-2006 World Test XI

IMO it has to be Imran or Hadlee. I went for Paddles for patriotic reasons and the fact I think that the batting in this team is already strong enough.

    Stephen Fleming

Three double centuries too, one of which would almost certainly have been a triple if he hadn't declared. One in every three times he gets 100 he goes on to double it....more of the same info just spat out in anonther way I guess but it still sounds impressive.

    Who is your favourite cricketer?

Vettori and Fleming are about equal with me. Im also a big fan of Gayle based on his sunglasses attitude.

    New Zealand 30 man squad

Im Glad to see that they're lining up Taylor to replace Styris. IMO the world cup is what matters this season and any chance to give the someone like Taylor more high class international experience, such as the Champions Trophy, should be seized.

Rank players at each position (1-11)

But NZ's most recent matches were against SA, where he opened.
