    Which combo would you take?

    1. Depends on the era; in the current era I honestly think the standard of a middling bowler is high enough and pitches spicy enough that the A-grade middle order will give you more benefits. In the 2000's the pace bowling opening pair would be more benefical. 2. Meh keeper who can bat. There's...

*Official* Zimbabwe in England (One Off Test)

Interesting that Bashir looks so awful at county level but at Test level has shown that he is worth investing in. Is it down to pitch differences? Or is it more of a case of the kind of bowler he is (e.g. capable of great deliveries but bowls pies outside of it)?

Best Spinner to tour Australia in the last 80 years?

Of course that's because they mostly came on turners and I think the way MacGill bowled meant that he was generally very difficult to play on a spinning deck (plus it was also usually his home deck). When MacGill was replacing Warne his performances tended to be much less effective.

    The Greatest Single Test Performance?

Yeah I think it's gotta be Laker. This Test from Botham is pretty wild though. 13 wickets and a ton!

    Offical Rugby League Thread

Think Team B looks way better than Team A, personally. It sounds sacreligious, but I'd almost be tempted to keep the Luai/Moses half pairing for Origin I. Cleary is a better player, but I'm not sure he's been the better Origin player of the three.

Virat Kohli Retires from Test Cricket

Obviously his career didn't end as well as he would've hoped, but for a period he was an utter beast and was the icon of his era. He defined cricket in a way few others did and whatever you thought of his on-field personality, he will be missed. This kind of feels like the end of an era. Most...

    South Africa team selection

That whole side looks pretty obscene by domestic standards. All 11 played international cricket.

England players and selection discussion thread

The only reason why Bashir's still getting a nod is because of Australia. Someone like Rehan and Leach would get destroyed here, at least in theory Bashir's well suited (at least as well suited as possible for a spinner) to bowl in Australia. Once he fails there it's game over. In fact unless...

The Most Inexcusable Droppings by Selectors

Phil Hughes. The second time he got dropped was understandable given the circumstances, but it also likely never would've happened had he not got scapegoated the first time. The third time was also a poor dropping.
