    Australian Domestic Season 2018/19

Tuned in for a bit. That Bertus guy looked out of his depth, not anywhere near FC standard. Not sure who decided it was a good idea to play him.

Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

Didn't a club one day game in SA end up with the team making 600 and the other team rolled for 20?

Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

Greg retired around the same time I took an interest in cricket and was surprised at how good his test average was when I first saw his Cricinfo profile. I always thought he was just a bits and pieces one day bowler. Then there was an article floating around a few years ago that explained the...

    Australian test selection 2018/19

I think people forget Mike Hussey was a pretty average opener in shield cricket - I think his average for WA was less than 40 or there abouts. He only really turned a corner when he made those triples for Northants in his late 20's. It's a shame a whole generation of those cricketers with...

    Australian test selection 2018/19

Isn't that what the last 5 years have been? Too many guys have already got test caps which they didn't deserve. I'm finding it hard to name even 5 players born between 1980 and 1985 who should've played for Australia and didn't. It was quite a dead period for quality Australian batsmen.

    Australian test selection 2018/19

Am I the only one that sees the lack of quality bats coinciding with the rule changes to the domestic second XI structure back in 2009. I see they now allow 6 over 23's instead of 3, but still rotate 13-14 players per match. Feels more like they're trying to find talent rather than building a...

Sky were stealing cycling coverage off Eurosport there for a while but seem to have given up on that as well.

Surprised no mention of the futures league. THAT was a major ****up by CA and has a lot to do with it.

The evolution of LOIs in your lifetime

Held the record for the highest individual score in WACA grade cricket. Might even still hold it? Edit: Still does. 285 in a 2 day match.

So what was the deal with Mal Loye and his sweep shots

I think almost every fringe county player at the time with an Irish grandparent was trying the same thing. I'm glad we didn't go down that path for too long. Coincidentally Jeremy Bray played in our first team the year after I left.

So what was the deal with Mal Loye and his sweep shots

Bloke played for my club back in oz around the late 90's and had a couple of big seasons (and some not so big) before disappearing back to England. We were just as surprised to see him randomly turning out for England years later let alone play something like that.

The evolution of LOIs in your lifetime

I'll take it back. I'd say Root, but does CW count 121 matches as a big enough sample size?

The evolution of LOIs in your lifetime

First memory of ODI cricket was this match. Should've been run out on not many, but lady luck remembered the other team was England. Worst ODI kit of all time goes to this special effort from New Zealand in 1989. So bad, the next match needed to be played with a red ball.

TBH I can't even think of one world class English ODI player.

Club cricket structures around the world

It's been a bit of an eye opener. There's 2 grounds where they play all the international fixtures - Gärdet and Skarpnäck, but everything is shared facilities and the upkeep is done by the local council so the outfields are either bumpy as **** or the grass is long. The umpiring is awful and...
