This winters been garbage for sure, although last summer was good and a lot of people make us favorites for the World Cup. Surely not as bad as the dark days of the 90s.

Good review, figure something must be wrong with any Vince dismissal not edging one outside of off stump.

Anyone know if hameeds been practicing well over the last six months  suspect there’s a heck of a lot more riding on the fruition of the next great English opener than I though last summer.

Tell me about it mate, both for sentimental reasons and the complete ****ing lack of anyone else to open.

Oh god. Now I wonder how James Vince is going to get out... ready in the slips nz.

Ffs Cooke, you can leave the ones outside leg early on.

Crikey, Boult looks well up for it.

AT least wood offers something a little different, should be able to get a few extra mph than any of the other poor mans stuart broad bowlers offer. Leach we shall say about but I’ve heard good things and, given how paramount it is to find a good spinner, I’m all in favor of trying him out.

Shows how much I know- was he a last minute choice? I’d seen leach and Vince’s names floating around but not mark wood, glad to see him

I suspect he might start getting after the World Cup- for now I think they’re trying to keep his work load down for fear of injuries.

Sounds good, although to be honest with Engalnd's performance it still would have been done in three days last time

Baggy Green ball tampering: Bancroft, Smith and the Aussie "Leadership Group"

I always thought he seemed like a pretty solid bloke. Doesn't necessarily radiate authority though, seems maybe a little too laid back (although I guess maybe the inverse is what got them into this mess in the first place ).

Seems like he only scores 200 or 5 at the minute, fingers crossed.

On a serious note I'm really excited to take a look at Leach, with the tour of Sri Lanka coming up England desperately need a new spinner and I've heard very good things out of Somerset. Doesn't look like Crane's ready yet so hopefully here's a solution.

So test match starts in a couple of hours- whatever happens (and I really truly hope England can salvage something from this winter of discontent, but not in a way that distracts from how urgently major change is needed in the red ball setup) it'll be so nice after the last few days to go back...

But he’s never travelled well, it’s just obvious. Can’t see why you need six tests of what’s been a dismal tour for this to happen

Moeen Ali out- how the hell has this taken so long?

Baggy Green ball tampering: Bancroft, Smith and the Aussie "Leadership Group"

as a young lad back in the good old days before youtube I read about Akram in a magazine, probably a full two years before I ever got to see him bowl (against England in '96) and was obsessed with him and reverse swing just as a concept. Be heart-breaking to have to reassess it at this point...
