Who is the best fast bowler in the world right now - Tests

My point is how can you say Broad is the equal of Steyn or Philander when one year ago, people were seriously considering dropping him. Yeah, since then he's performed well against India and Pakistan (both of whom are rubbish against seam anyways) on helpful tracks and all of a sudden he's the...

    Mohammad Sami vs Ishant Sharma

Both pretty poor but I guess I'd say Sharma is better. Ishant has most things a fast bowler needs but is still unable to bring it all together and take wickets consistently.

Maybe Kallis was just rubbish as a schoolboy lol. I am still unconvinced by Levi, he can hit a long ball but his shot selection is terrible at times. Steyn just embarrassed him and whilst Steyn would have done that to better batsmen, it isn't a great sign. I fear he will just be a one-hit...

Best Test XI from each nation (that you have seen)

No, but number 6 is a really weird position. Nowadays it's just used as a breeding spot for the younger talents before they get pushed up the order and another youngster gets moved in at 6. The only real exception to this in recent times is Mike Hussey.

UDRS STUFF relating to the Australia in the West Indies 2012

The speed with which Clarke reviewed it probably indicates he didn't hit it but there is absolutely no evidence for the third umpire to overturn it. A very clear noise (which probably wasn't bat on ball but a noise nonetheless) and that itself is enough to not overturn it. It was a poor decision...

Are you honestly telling me that you would pick Cameron White over JP Duminy? I actually want to see you type that. Wow, how bad is Dan Christian at death bowling? Didn't he concede a six off the last ball in the Champions League to allow RCB over the line? Bowled a slower full-toss if I...

Who is the best fast bowler in the world right now - Tests

OK, we'll see this summer. It will give me great satisfaction to see the likes of Ian Botham forced to admit the South African attack is better. Just under a year ago, they were all criticising Broad for his lengths, saying that there is a risk he will be dropped. Now all of a sudden he and...

Who is the best fast bowler in the world right now - Tests

It's so frustrating hearing these English commentators and pundits keep raving about Anderson and Broad as the best "new ball pair" in world cricket. They're both top class but give me Steyn and Philander any day.

Best Test XI from each nation (that you have seen)

He is good tactically (field settings, juggling bowlers etc.) but rather defensive minded with his declarations. You can't really blame him though for South Africa not being number one. We've hardly lost a series in the last 4 or 5 years, with only the odd blip here and there. He should be...

It's more down to form really, you can't really be looking at T20 records. Russell has had an excellent start to his international career, a good series against AUS where he scored quick late-order runs and took wickets as well as being lively in the field. He is just an automatic pick, much...

***Official*** Australia in the West Indies 2012

AUS must win this Test series really, it's been a very poor tour for them so far and leaving without any series wins will just be an awful result.

Some of these IPL team selections are just daft. How is Glenn Maxwell better than Andre Russell? How is out-of-form Cameron White or Daniel Harris better than JP Duminy? JP better play today or I'm gonna blow a gasket at the sheer idiocy.

***Official*** England in Sri Lanka 2012

Why don't Sri Lanka just play three spinners? Their pace attack is really weak and it's just free runs for the English batsmen. All they need is Lakmal to operate with the new ball and have Herath/Dilshan bowling at the other end. Bowl the 3 spinners through the middle overs of the innings and...

    *Official* Indian Premier League 2012

Graeme Smith is missing the IPL in order to have surgery on his ankle. Good to see that he is doing this now so that he can be ready for the England series later on in the year. I would be very irritated if he had done what some of the Indian players did last time out and play through the IPL...

Will Graeme Smith claim another victim?

Strauss had better make some big runs in Colombo or a couple of hundreds against the West Indies. Unless he does so, I don't think he will last till the South Africa series. One 100 in his last 50 odd innings, that's just unacceptable. Had it been Pietersen with that record, he wouldn't even be...

Things that will happen before the next English test victory

Philander goes wicketless in a Test match. Bob Willis praises a cricketer. Panesar takes a blinder at slip.

Hi guys, I'm a RSA supporter who just joined the forum. Anyone else of the opinion that MI are just too strong? I can't see anyone living with them. The IPL has lost some of its lustre and raw entertainment but it's still cricket on my TV and it's hard to turn that down.
