Villa actually trying to win the game, what bastards. We knew exactly what they'd try and do before the game even started and yet we still failed to deal with it. It's pretty clear that sitting deep to Liverpool is the way to go and I'm surprised any time we deal with any sort of high-line...

    Euro 2016 Qualifying Draw

Harsh on Arshavin. There was a period there where he looked a real decent player. Or perhaps that's just because he still haunts my dreams. Come to think of it, loads of Arsenal flops seem to have great performances against us. I distinctly remember Abou Diaby ripping us to shreds in his...

Yeah, Stones was awful at RB against us. I'd be going for Nathaniel Clyne myself.

Yeah, thank **** he didn't hand massive wages to a guy with known serious knee troubles in his late 20s.

    What's in an Average?

If we had a slightly more robust midfield I think that would actually work quite well. Sterling and Ox can both be fantastic 4-4-2 wingers if that's what you want and Sturridge is better with a partner. But then you remember it's coached by Hodgson and it all goes to **** anyway.

Agree with this. Remy's great at creating his own shot but that's really not what Arsenal need. His off-ball movement is pretty average and with Ozil, Cazorla etc. crying out for a striker making decent runs in behind, Welbeck's probably a better fit.

Looks like Danny Welbeck for £16m is the go for Arsenal.

So, no, even that is half as likely to be a goal.

And that's not what I'm saying either. My point is that penalties have an 80% conversion rate. This is far, far, *far* more than any other shot anywhere else on the pitch. Why should they be included in the standard goal tally when they take much less skill and are much easier to do? I'm more...

I can't believe how difficult some people here think it is to score a penalty. All you have to do is get it on target and you're already at well over 50% chance of scoring. Your keeper could probably take them and you'd only miss out on 1/2 goals a season because of it. It's like bringing in a...

But the numbers are incredibly similar for penalty shootouts, where the takers are presumably less skillful. It's really not hard to score a penalty. It's more a % thing than a test of skill, aside from really poor penalties and really poor luck.

Yeah, exactly this. Gerrard will probably get 10 goals again this season, but if he left then Balotelli would get the same 10 goals because penalties are piss easy. Gerrard leaving wouldn't actually lose Liverpool any goals. Much like Falcao joining Arsenal or United wouldn't gain them any goals...

The whole point is that penalties bloat his record though. That doesn't add goals to a team unless you really have no decent penalty takers. Another interesting one: Llorente = Falcao without the hype.
