Third Name Listed for ATG XI

I simply took every year of Imran actual performance to break up his career. See how he performed each year. Bowling records | Test matches | Cricinfo Statsguru | ESPN Cricinfo 1980 was the first year he averaged below 25 then he had a great run till 1986. In 1987 he played 10 tests with...

Is Clarke Australia's greatest tactical captain ever?

Taylor is the best from Aus I have seen when it comes to tactics. That makes it easy to answer this poll.

Am I the only person who thinks Kallis was a better player than Tendulkar?

It will be a great thing to develop but I am not that good with stats to help out here. I agree that Lara suffered the most due to coming in at 3 with bad openers. Kallis had good openers. Sachin had bad openers but he came at 4 so it's not so easy to compare it with Kallis here. Agreed about...

Am I the only person who thinks Kallis was a better player than Tendulkar?

You may not see difference but for me, those 'so called ATG bowlers' were surely ATG. Now, I can offer one possible explanation here. Some batsmen raise their game against great bowlers but fail to raise it proportionally in same way against average bowlers. On other hands, you can have some...

Third Name Listed for ATG XI

I personally don't hold it against him. I was just offering a possible explanation for him not being in those list more frequently.

Am I the only person who thinks Kallis was a better player than Tendulkar?

A good point to consider. I have watched more of SA matches than Indian matches but I think Indians had far worse openers as compared to SA . Let's see the first 10 years of their career to compare what kind of openers both countries had. Batting records | Test matches | Cricinfo Statsguru |...

Let's focus on message and not messengers. What did you find factually wrong here to accuse me of learning stats from other posters? --------------------------------------------------------- 1971-1979( First 25 matches) -- Avg 31.88 { Nothing great here } A great middle phase covering 35...

Am I the only person who thinks Kallis was a better player than Tendulkar?

Kallis was not really doing too great against most bowling units having ATG bowlers. For example, you can take a cut off of 2004 when Pakistani greats retired. 5 teams had ATG bowlers till 2004. SA, Aus, SL, Pakistan & WI. Against Aus( 23 innings) -- Avg 32 Against Pak ( 12 innings) - Avg 38...

Am I the only person who thinks Kallis was a better player than Tendulkar?

I have seen the entire career of both players. Purely as a batsman , there was a noticeable gap between skill level of Sachin and Kallis. Against ATG bowlers, I will have absolutely no doubt in picking Sachin over Kallis. Kallis flourished after most of the ATG bowlers retired. Kallis makes up...

Third Name Listed for ATG XI

In this poll, I voted for Gilchrist, Sachin and Warne. If I have to chose just one then I will go with Gilchrist.

Third Name Listed for ATG XI

Possibly. I didn't really see a whole lot of cricket in 80s but I would think that tampering was not limited to one or two bowlers. An argument can be made for reverse swing bowlers making more use of it though. One reason or another, Imran seems to not appear that frequently in those sides. I...

Third Name Listed for ATG XI

I was just speculating here for reasons for not seeing Imran often in World XI. As a bowler, if he gets rated around the same level as many other contenders then he should make it most of the times due to his batting. But that's not the case.

Third Name Listed for ATG XI

I have wondered about this as well. Imran is not picked often as a bowler despite him being able to contribute with bat.Clearly, most experts don't rate Imran as the top 5-6 bowlers otherwise he should be making ATG XI more frequently due to his ability to contribute with bat. Just a...
