    Bradman effect

Don't understand how no one has brought it up so far ... why are bradman's runs just being deducted for 'correction' - we are correcting for the bradman effect - him being quite a bit better than anyone else ... not him not being there at all ....... what would be fair would be that overall...

was it ? I thought it had majorly to do with contract problems - he was being paid to write a column for an Australian paper and the Aussie board didn't want him to do so while he was playing for Aus .........

first of all, bradman is the best batsman by some distance and would be in any era .. what is amusing is that the when people post that bradman would average somewhat lesser in any other era, bradman apologists , the big bambino, in this case , brings up comparisons of the England attack from...

oh , I didn't say England's attack from 98-2009 was weak ....I was being sarcastic there ..... the only problem with your "isolation" aspect is that the Indian/SL/NZ ( & england ) attacks, the relatively weaker bowling attacks are still significantly better than the batting of WI, NZ and India...

    Inzamam or Pietersen

Inzi at the moment. If KP can keep up good form for a couple more years, would probably put him ahead ... in Asia, Inzi obviously outside of Asia, KP .. though inzi did well vs WI in WI and vs NZ in NZ ...

yeah, because England bowling in the 90s was weak, so were India, SL, NZ at home 8-) each one of Aus, WI, Pak, SA attacks was better than the England attack from 27-39 yet the only team that goes below 25 avg or below even any of the 3 ( NZ, WI, Ind ) from 28-39 , vs these 4 attacks combined...

read again ...... I said Aus could've won the 2nd test without Mcgrath and lost the 3rd even with Mcgrath ....... ... both were the thinnest of margins ... that could've was for both the statements ..... . agree that was an amazing spell of bowling from Mcgrath , but one thing to be...

nope, Pakistan's batting avg overall in the 90s was ~31 .. hardly anything to sneeze at .. new zealand's batting avg overall in the 90s was ~30 Team records | Test matches | Cricinfo Statsguru | ESPN Cricinfo all of WI, India and NZ had batting averages of around 25 overall from 28-39 ...

really ? Aus/WI/Pak/SA attacks of those times were better than the English attacks from 27-39 , without a question what you are missing is that apart from the England and Aussie batting lineups and to a lesser extent SA, the other teams - NZ, India, WI had pretty weak batting lineups...

Your own "Damn I missed it" moments.

Missed seeing the Aus-SA 434-438 match live ... I had switched on in the last few overs of the Aus innings. saw that they had belted 434 ... thought they wouldn't lose .. there was another match going on at the same time : India-SL I think ...was busy watching that ... only turned on the news...

    Greatest Bowler

this ....... apart from the last series when he was well past his best and was taken apart ; murali was more of a threat in India than warne was, actually looked far more of a threat .....even though the pitches for Ind-SL tests were on an average quite clearly flatter than those in the Ind-Aus...

and this doesn't include circumstances like : sachin getting a couple of dubious decisions in the 99 series , a wrong one in 2001 ( no-ball of gillespie ) and a freak catch of the bowling of Mark Waugh , does it ? he was far better than the avgs of 45+ and 50+ suggest in those 2 series ...

    Pietersen vs Sangakkara

Would have to go with sanga overall .... The gap widened when KP was in a slump, but with these 3 brilliant tons - vs steyn/morkel , in SL and in India , that gap reduced considerably IMO, even more so as he has improved his record in the SC .... But it isn't that big a difference as the...
