*Official* Fifth Test at the SCG

well he was born in Northern Ireland so there is a 95% chance he is a loyalist, then again do you think anyone follows the Ashes in Ireland?

*Official* Fifth Test at the SCG

Carberry's best bet of making a significant contribution would come if he batted at 3 I think. Bell has all the attributes of an opening batsman expediency has required that he bat elsewhere. I don't think he is our best bat as he isn't as good as Pietersen, more reliable but not as good.

*Official* Fifth Test at the SCG

With so much talk of chopping and changing I wonder have I missed something? Why is Joe Root's place not open to question? Talk of dropping Carberry to accommodate Root as Cook's opening partner is senseless. Carberry has often batted at three so put him there and bring Bell in as Cook's...

Can I rack you guys brains?

It's a pity you live in the NE and not the NW because I have quite literally a shed full of cricket equipment. The previous owner of my new house ran a cricket club which became defunct about 5 years ago and I inherited all the club's equipment. I haven't had time to go through it all but at a...

(As an England fan) The Worst Ashes You've Seen

considering all things I think this one is the worst by far. Don't forget wise old sages like Botham were predicting a 10-0 (a view that I found utterly laughable BTW). 1989 is running it close but with certain England players (at that time) behaving as though it was public school bean fest the...

*Official* Fourth Test at the MCG

Rogers MOM. Not a popular choice last summer but all credit to him for showing great determination and spirit. Only two nights ago the 'experts' were suggesting he wouldn't make the cut for SA but I think the argument has been settled. Well done Rogers, nice guys do win sometimes.

    **Official** Australian Domestic Season 2013/14

Thanks. I had reason to ask that as I met a young Australian cricketer quite sometime ago and he later played first class cricket representing Queensland in a handful of Sheff. Shield matches. I found that he had scored a hundred at the Adelaide Oval (early 90's) which took 435 minutes and I...

One overwhelming positive for England ....

He was in the squad originally but a decision was taken, after due consideration by all relevant parties, to keep home for the winter, where he has been putting in a lot of work in at Lancashire's in door facilities.

    **Official** Australian Domestic Season 2013/14

Getting off the subject here and apologies if I should have asked this question elsewhere but can anyone tell me what is the slowest hundred (that is actually reaching 3 figures and not the entire innings) ever recorded in the Sheffield Shield? (in balls and minutes).

So who's going to win tomorrow? (4th Test, final day)

I would be surprised if anyone thought that England will win tomorrow. Trouble is if Australia happen to be 100 for 7 I would still make them favourites based on what has gone before, not just in Australia but even in England last summer. Agar wasn't the only so called tail-ender to make runs...

*Official* Fourth Test at the MCG

wouldn't be surprised if it read Rogers 18 Warner 12 Watson 0 Clarke 0 Smith 0 Bailey 0 Haddin 50 not out Johnson 0 Siddle 0 Harris 0 Lyon 151 not out Australia win by 1 wicket

Piers Morgan bowled Lee no score 3 bruises

after Johnson finished off our innings the only disappointment for me on day two was that Brett didn't knock Morgan's head off his shoulders. Ponse.

*Official* Fourth Test at the MCG

Root (and coaching staff) need to do a lot of work he is indeed a strokeless wonder. Bell should have moved up to 3 at least (he should be an opener IMO). I was planning to stay up until tea but decided going to bed was more interesting sometime before that. And 1966 was a great year for English...

    Messi v Cristiano

Ronaldo is the greatest he can use both feet unlike 'one foot' Messi.

    Future England spinners

Simon Kerrigan will come back, he is too good to disappear without trace. His debut came much too early and his nerves where in bits.

    thankfully he didn't!

Sledging or an excuse to get personal?

Quite right it's all very silly and cowardly. These tough guy sledgers are hiding behind the knowledge that no one (so far) has retaliated with violence and that it is therefore safe to do it. I can think of loads of pubs where even the most heroic sledgers wouldn't dare try it out on a group of...

Will Chanderapul be considered an all time great?

If I had to pick someone to bat for my life I would be happy to go with Shiv, he never ceases to amaze me.
