Calling Filer's C&B a 'drop' is harsh, however, the rest were fairly standard at international level especially the slip and gulley drops. Thing is, the bowling has been good by all accounts.

It's clearly a mental thing. Or the siege culture in the camp. Whatever it is, the coach must go. England are talented cricketers, but as a unit they have gone rapidly backwards since the last Ashes contest.

Agreed - I was suggesting it's down to her as to how long she wishes to continue. She is class, but has been prone to injuries of late.

I think that says more about the coaching as you say. They are still young, their game developing, if they hit their potential they can go far

Agreed. She's taken some flack but gone and put in some hard work with a few changes to her technique. There is some good young talent, I'm a fan of Capsey too despite her going through a lean spell. A new coach is definitely required to take them on.

I think the most disappointing thing is how far short England are from their potential. There is some quality but the basics are poor. After 3 overs there had already been wides, miss-fields and a drop. I can't see Lewis lasting beyond this series, similar for Knight, Wyatt-Hodge and as for...

This is true. Spinners put on England's highest partnership of the innings, they might have given themselves something to bowl at. Why are SA holding Kapp back?

England are going to have to bowl exceptionally well here. After their bowlers have to bat exceptionally well.

I'm no cricket captain. I do think you generally should do what the opposition would least like. However in the 3rd over of the day England bowled the 4th seamer with no slips.

England have found genuine quality test match bowlers this year in Atkinson and Carse. The fact they can average in the 20s plus with the bat is one hell of a bonus.

England do excite and frustate in equal measure. It has been discussed earlier in the thread. I'm really excited by the bowling attack. Filer, Bell, Dean, Guar, Wong, Glenn as well as world leading Ecclestone and others I've surely missed are young and still improving. From a very high bar...
