*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

Yeah, I think we're hitting an awkward patch where we've got younger guys with loads of potential but who seems more suited to either the longest format or the shortest format but haven't quite got the ODI format down. You'd hope in two years they'd get that experience and game under their belt...

    2024–25 NZ domestic season

Sucks for Chu, but good for the rest of the domestic draft players to claw back some points from Vandem

    Final – India v New Zealand – Sunday, March 9 – Dubai

The WTC final host should rotate but always be neutral (so a host announced but every team's country has a neutral venue as backup if they are due to host and make the final).

Unless we get a warm up series, those conditions are still foreign - except for maybe some of the T20 guns for fire. I can't remember the last time we played ODIs in SA. Though I think we get some mid-year when w ego to Zimbabwe(?) We've played a lot of cricket in Pakistan up until this tournament.

Top posting from you in this thread too. You're the real Champion's Trophy. Or something.

Oh yep, haha I actually mixed them up. Ravindra's wicket was the most frustrating - he had just had a scare/let off and then gets out straight away. So frustrating. Like, he's been amazing all tournament so it's hard to criticise, but you can't help but imagine what if

Yeah like the other match we just got too tied down from the spinners. Varun the main difference there I think.

Someone said earlier a target of 275 would be good and they were spot on.

All over rover. Well done India, for all my griping you're ultimately the better of the two teams. Congrats!

    Finally, a legitimate 'straight up'

Lack of imagination in the NZ setup imo

We've been sloppier in the field tonight which is dissappointing

Probably smart here from India sitting on Santner and Bracewell because we've got two part timers and seamers not suited to death bowling left. This has turned out a lot closer than expected.

    c. Ravindra b. Santner SLA to win the game from here imo

I mean I was also slightly surprised by the lack of another purely specialist spin option but I agree, it feels like while we had the perfectly balanced side for all the Pakistan games in the tri series and group stages, another threatening spin option would've been great for Dubai. That said...

    Final – India v New Zealand – Sunday, March 9 – Dubai

I mean we've got Santner, Bracewell, Phillips and Ravindra. I think the rationale is if you can't achieve with 4 what will you achieve with 5? maybe his record in Pakistan and UAE (above 50) was an influence

Good to see NZ have embraced their inner #cheats by keeping the electric and younger Chapman on the field in place of old man Wlliamson
