So he knew this was the plan for some time despite negotiating extension offers on 3 separate occasions in the last year?
I don’t claim any specific knowledge but all I know is that it had been very open that RM were on his case for some time. The last few months have come across as posturing.

BARNES OUT
As someone who spent the last 6 months deciding whether to take a new job that offered a step up and better money (but I'd have to move) or staying in a job I loved that I'd been in for years I find that it's easy to forget that these players are just people and making decisions like these is hard as **** for everyone.

Trent is a dude in his twenties who's never known anything else. It doesn't matter how much money is involved - he's probably been extremely torn about it for years. Things aren't always black & white.

If you can't work it out on your own I'm not telling you the answer.
My post was tongue in cheek. Of course he's known this for years, the negotiation and celebration antics were all engineered. He was never going to extend.

This latest turn is the ultimate vindication for fans that booed him. It was never about not being able to accept his departure to a bigger club, or anything to do with his ambition or ours - it was about how he conducted himself; the hypocrisy and deception throughout his time at the club.

I think it's actually quite sad how he's cut all ties to Liverpool and rebranded now. The whole thing is a sign of a morally corrupt egotistic individual.

He's got millions in the bank now and has set his family up for generations but I think with a bit of maturity in a few decades he'll look back with a fair bit of regret about the burnt bridges.

On a side note, how does a scouser learn Spanish within 3 months?

I want whatever duolingo course that was because it took me 5 years living abroad and I'm still not even that fluent 😂
What does him being a scouser have to do with it?

Nah, bloke obviously owes it to people he's never met to live his life in a way that conforms with their expectations and arbitrary standards of moral integrity.

Anyone watching this Club World Cup nonsense?

Find it hilarious that it's not getting the fan attendance or interest that was expected. Decent enough concept but FIFA are muppets for how it's been organised.

I just hope it ends up being a side like Dortmund, River Plate or Inter that wins it. Would be a shame for Madrid, City or Chelsea to take home the £100m prize.

Utter nonsense. It's actually on free to air TV in the UK, which shows how none of the big boys were interested in broadcasting it. Haven't watched any of it.

Liverpool and Arsenal must love watching two of their main domestic rivals miss their month off. 32 teams is just daft too, wtf were Auckland doing playing Bayern???

I'm struggling to figure out the meritocracy of certain teams being in the tournament I must say and not just them.
