The emotion has died down now, and I just want to say how unbelievably proud I am. To be a Protea fan is to know pain. For years we have had strong teams, heck we had the best Test team for nearly a decade but we never had anything to show for it. We didn’t have our championship. The T20 WC broke our hearts but for a cricket lover this means so much more.

Overlooking all the structural issues of the WTC, you still have to beat who is infront of you and we did. 8 times in a row! Conrad took some punts on players and different guys have stood up in this journey. In fact, now that I think of it just about everyone had their time in the sun. I’m including Burger, de Zorzi , Piedt, Muthusamy , Bosch, Paterson etc who contributed to wins along the way but didn’t play the final. Conrad seems to be great at identifying who he needs for a certain role.

I hope this ushers in a new mentality in our cricket. A free mentality that is born from the fact that we HAVE won something on the big stage now. We have always had the talent, we just need that steel.

Rob is a big traditionalist like I think most of us are here with regards to keeping test cricket the most important format in SA.

I understand the financial situation but the new head has spoken & I've always got the feeling he himself doesn't quite grasp the value and importance of test cricket to the players and the fans. Thought Markram speaking post match about how important it is that the young cricketer in SA coming through wants the test cap more than anything.

So I guess Rob is criticising the fact that we don't play enough tests and don't have any home tests this summer. It does feel weird after being WTC champions that we only play a home test in 16/17 months or something.

A lot of cricket coming up. Bilateral T20 series should be banned. Don't know how you guys feel. They spend approx 4 months of the year playing it at franchise level. Some maybe more.

Anyways before the T20 WC next year we have ;

6 Tests (2 X Zim, 2 X Pak, 2 X Ind)
12 ODI's (3 X Aus, 3 X Eng, 3 X Pak, 3 x Ind)
24 T20's (4 min with Zim/NZl, 3 X Aus, 3 X Eng, 1 X Nam, 3 X Pak, 5 X Ind, 5 X WIn)
