Supercars drivers these days seem to be (mostly) pretty good at keeping it on the black stuff when the weather is ordinary. Was at that race at The Bend in the pissing wet a few years back, was somewhat surprised by how little carnage there was for the conditions
Bring back the owner operators for the shenanigans.

Sad weekend for McLaughlin and SVG. Especially McLaughlin. Penske clearly haf the pace to move forward in that race.

Gj from Payne and ford all weekend. Rip Cam’s last stop.

Also, am I wrong, or is this complete BS to anyone else? Like is my 888 hate blinding me or is this bs?

Man we are getting some amazing races this year. Massive effort from Payne there, I thought Feeney kinda messed up there on the last lap but great racing nonetheless.
Whiz with tyres already love this guy.

Decent weekend for our two overseas ex Supercars champs. SVG 20th on an oval in his poor team is a big win.

Scotty Mac a solid top 5. Palou is just dominating everyone atm. Feels very 2023 Verstappen like. Their only chance is the ovals.

McLaughlin was absolutely devastating to see.

In very positive news though, in NASCAR’s longest race of the year SVG smashed his previous oval best with a 14th.

14th of 40 starters, 32 finishers and 17 cars on the lead lap. (apparently copped floor damage at one point, should be noted his teammate won so there may have been more potential)

Yeah was one of if not the best oval performances for SVG in the Cup series. Chipped away at it, not better as the race went on, good result at the end of the day. Definitely seems the car had more speed (the teammate that won, the world's fastest watermelon farmer Ross Chastain, is imo a top 5-6 driver in all of NASCAR but has been held back by Trackhouse lacking speed as a team the last couple of years). Great to see

Was absolutely gutted for ScottyMac when he went and did a Roberto Guerrero on the pace laps. Power's day never really got going after the pre race penalty either. Palou honestly is on another level this year, respect his talent immensely but honestly the championship is pretty much a foregone conclusion at this stage. At least my other favourite in Indycar (Malukas) has a good day I suppose

Would love to see Palou directly compete with the top F1 guys but only way he looks likely to get in is Cadillac which is unlikely to be competitive for some time.

I don't think either series want Palou in F1. If he's great, F1 need to pump up the meritocracy facade. If he sucks, Indy loses a lot of the hard won respect it has regained since reunification.

It's also a risk for Palou. Bourdais had very high stock in the last years of CART before F1 showed he was no Montoya or JV and struggled to get better than midfield rides when he came back. Palou's achievements are considerably greater given he hasn't bashed up the dying CART field but he still needs to be wary if he returns at 32-33.
