I do think it actually helps them that so much cricket is franchise now. It normalises the idea of living in one country but playing for another one.

Absolutely.

There can be a genuine hope for maybe in 10 years if they steadily improve all their structures again from school to club to FC system that they can demand more from players on where they live and playing in their FC system.

But short-term there is a WC soon and if you do well there you get more financial returns & can keep growing.
