English Domestic Season 2025

Is Cricinfo broken?

Lewis Gregory and Josh Davey opening the batting for Somerset!

In fairness, our old sparring partner (well I used to love winding him up prodigiously), Sir Virgs from cricket247, always did say that their bowlers were their best batters!

Very odd seems like Archie Vaughan hasn't got past 36 yet from 11 knocks this season. So bit of protecting him.

But then wonder where Dickson and Umeed are for Gregory to promote himself and Davey 5/6/7 places up the order
According to their website Umeed was in the 13 man squad but Dickson has a hand injury. TKC at the PSL.

It's Foakes and I doubt it's particularly close. I always thought Simpson was a decent keeper before he came to Sussex, now it seems he's become a solid batsman too.
Simpson's move to Sussex has been outrageously good for both him and the team.

Went to Lord’s today. Middlesex could have been in even greater trouble as Leicestershire dropped four catches by my reckoning, including Higgins thrice. The ball moved notably less after lunch. Hull’s pace looked well down.

Got Cameron Green out the other day where if anything it looked like he did Green for a lack of pace, measured at 65mph apparently which even when you consider the conservative estimates of county speedguns is leisurely!

nice double from Hameed yesterday as well as carrying the bat. Surely should be knocking on the door as a replacement to Crawley soon??

Discussed a lot of times. But too much County Championship is played in April/May. Would like their to be a 50 over competition (Like the old B&H Cup ) to run alongside some county championship matches
no no no

The recent de-cluttering of the english season has been great for cricket. No more B&H cup group stage games, sunday league on a tuesday or a three-day game against Combined Universities. All the nonsense bulldozed away. Playing in the IPL window has even removed international cricket. Just championship cricket friday after friday. The hundred in august is fine, if the four monts before that can be all about the championship. The weather is fine, with a warmer climate april is the new may.

Since last season games even begin on a friday, the best day of the week. Surrey straight away got 21st century record attendances, both daily (6,311) for a match (13,706) and season (65,433), though with 6,150 on day one yesterday against Yorkshire, the record for a match may not last long.

Give the championship a chance. It makes no sense perpetuating the silly myth about three men and a dog while expecting huge interest in a pointless test against Zimbabwe for no other reason than it being a test.

He seems to have reinvented himself as a dasher in the Bazball mode too. IIRC he blocked like Boycott first time around.
