I'm away next week with a bunch of relatively intelligent Scousers, will be interesting to get their perspective on it. I suspect they probably couldn't care less.

My only take on this that the last time we have seen a similar situation in the EPL with such a high profile player leaving a club on a free was when Sol Campbell saw out his contract for Spurs and moved to Arsenal. That was pretty huge because of the obvious rivalry between the two clubs.

Also Ince leaving leaving West Ham to go to Man Utd didn't go down terribly well iirc.

Him wearing a Man United shirt ahead of signing for them wasn't taken well round my way, to say the least. That said, we never ended up playing against him for circa 5 yearsdue to us yo-yoing and him being injured against us in between. I was at Upton Park for his first return. It was very lively then...............

Pffft, that's got nothing on Maurice Johnston signing for Rangers in 1989.
'The astonishing thing about Souness signing Johnston is not so much that he's signed a Catholic, but more that he's signed a Scot.'

I forget who wrote it, but it got big laughs at the time.

I don't think the Trent stuff is all that deep. I do think it's a bit silly to boo him but I can see why the fans would be well off him, especially as he hasn't actually been all that good the last two years while he kept saying he loved the club etc.

Don't let the truth get in the way of an agenda.

I imagine you're not having to cope about LFC winning the league to the same degree as others around here. You know, having won major trophies in recent years and all that.

Taiwo Awoniyi: Nottingham Forest striker in induced coma after surgery - BBC Sport

Thoughts are with Awoniyi.

However, this situation arose after a clear offside that the linesperson (it was a lady on this occasion) chose to let play continue. It wasn't even close, you could even tell that she was tempted to put her flag up straight away. I've felt for a while that this has gone too far and sooner or later someone was going to get injured in a pointless cause, and now we have it. Surely, it's time to change the rule.

I mean it's the kind of injury that could have happened at more or less any time. I don't think the offside rules really have anything to do with it.

Hope he makes a quick and full recovery though, obviously.
