Clutch AF. 2/3 of all England football trophies have been won in the last 3 years

    Bowlers then and now

The idea that there aren't any test bowlers around better than Harbhajan Singh and Lance Klusener is certainly a take. Also the one where you just deliberately forget that all the best players over a period of 30 years were (a) always playing, (b) always playing together and (c) always played...

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

The lead isn't big enough to hold for 5 sessions, so given how easily they're scoring now, its not worth declaring. If time becomes an issue, it'll be worth it not to have to bat as much last.

That's Root's 16th 150, which is only really notable because he's just gone past Ricky Ponting again.

Never really been of a mind to stat pad, Stokes. Which is admirable, I suppose, if you don't care for those of us who have the statsguru tabs open.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Here's the list. 40 such occasions, Corbin Bosch the most recent last month, Gus Atkinson the last for England last year. Beefy the leading player with five efforts, Ashwin has four and no one else more than two.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

I think it'll be one fewer. Ponting played 287 and this is Root's 286th knock.

It's if and when Root gets to 120.

    Ricky Ponting vs Joe Root

Yup. 8 tons in 17 tests they've both played.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Sir Jack Hobbs: 61 Tests, 102 innings, 5410 runs at 56.94. 15 hundreds. Joe Root in his 30s: 60 Tests, 109 innings, 5528 runs at 56.40, 20 hundreds.

IR Bell pretty little fifties thread

Because England are winning this game by miles? Always know things are going well for us when the thread gets bumped, it means there's nothing legitimate to whige about so this worthess toss comes out.

KEY STAT UPDATE: 13,290 runs is lots

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Yes, an illegal ploy to throw the batsman off. Should lose his match fee.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Duckett immediately discovers the front foot now that he's no longer six inches shorter than the other batsman. There's room for a crackpot theory about partnership roles here.
