*Official* New Zealand in Zimbabwe 2025 (Tests)

Or is it that NZ like a couple of days off?

*Official* New Zealand in Zimbabwe 2025 (Tests)

i think I have said on here that the NZ SA series at the start of last year with an SA not even second string XI was a joke as supposedly test matches. Can’t see much different in criticising games v Zim.

Is Waqar Younis an ATG test bowler?

Waqar would have been an ATG for me if he was able to keep bowling like he did in the early 90s. Simply not the same bowler for me after that time so no.

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Was 2019 not still Trevor Bayliss? I agreed that the other three tests were rather dull but yes those two games were brilliant.

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Or anything approaching the best seam attack. Archer/Atkinson/Carse/Stokes really won't be so bad, especially outside England. We do need a more seam/swing specialist over here though. That was meant to be Woakes although the 3 out of 4 pitches (let's leave the Oval out of this) were never...

*Official* Road to the 2025-26 Ashes

Michael Vaughan criticises England’s ‘diabolical’ decision to pick Jacob Bethell in fifth Test against India | The Independent I don't make a habit of trying to agree with Michael Vaughan, but I find it very hard to dispute what he said here.

Shakib Al Hasan vs Joe Root

Apols, my eyesight is not so good these days. I did recently have a cataract operation. Even so, over a sustained period the number of tons per match is outstanding when it was clearly an issue for him to convert before.

*Official* Road to the 2025-26 Ashes

Bashir actually bowled quite well at Headingley and I didn't think he was terrible in the other two test this series just gone. He appears to at least be more consistent than he was last year, but whether that is enough is obviously another matter. I do think he is better suited to Australia...

Shakib Al Hasan vs Joe Root

Can't believe this was ever a thing. Anyway, I wanted to dig out some Root stats. Since the start of 2021 Root has played 61 of his 158 test matches and has 22 of his 39 test tons at an average of 62.17. He has got 17 unconverted 50s at this time, when in comparison he had scored 49 unconverted...

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Like probably nearly every other England fan, I've prevaricated over Crawley. I really would love an alternative to be out there who would be a significant upgrade on him, but I am of the realisation that this option simply doesn't exist at this time. They have hopes for McKinney and they are...

*Official* India tour of England 2025 General Discussion

Re Edgbaston, in theory, but looking at the way England players bat with the exception of Root and occasionally Stokes, that was highly unlikely. Nearly all of those players have to play shots and just couldn't defend in the way that the likes of Cook/Strauss/Trott could do back in 2010. Not...

*Official* India tour of England 2025 General Discussion

I have to say that I disagree with Edgbaston. England were miles off throughout that game. I'm not sure I agree with Old Trafford either as India got through that so comfortably.

*Official* India tour of England 2025 General Discussion

His overall s/r of 43 is something that might well keep him around over all the matches he's played. Sure, some of that is because of England's method but this also includes wickets v Australia too.

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Definitely that. I have been raging over the last couple of months that he hasn't been taken aside earlier in his career and had serious sessions on trying to sort this out. He doesn't play white ball cricket for England so he has sufficient downtime to try and address this, but he has barely...

Franchise Cricket in England Domestic Season 2025

I've always found it a rubbish journey. Probably because I don't like the tram very much.
