    English Domestic Season 2025

Not that I can remember, no! Openers will always get their share of ducks I guess.

    No hopers who made it

Andrew Flintoff was picked for England far too early and it took him quite a while to get half decent.

    Why T20, why not T30?

Not sure about other countries but twenty over matches and leagues have been a thing in English recreational cricket for donkey's years. Most regions will have at least one evening league where it's either 20 six-ball overs or 15 eight-ball overs and the games start at 6pm so players can come...

Franchise Cricket in England Domestic Season 2025

Why is Tom Lawes apparently playing as a batsman? I mean I know he hasn't had a great season with the ball but...

Was SF barnes a spin bowler or pace bowler?

This video of an Ashes Test from 1958-9 is interesting. When he's first brought on to bowl, the commentator describes Keith Slater as a medium-pacer, but in the second innings he calls him an off-spinner. Most of the time he's clearly bowling spin, but at 12'15 you can see him coming in off a...

Was SF barnes a spin bowler or pace bowler?

Was SF barnes a spin bowler or pace bowler?

Botham became a medium pace trundler later on in his career. He was a genuine pace bowler for the first few years though. Certainly a fair bit quicker than Bedser, Statham or Tate.

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

    Mitchell Johnson, but he improved.

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Potts was always a pound shop Robinson. Unlike most on here I actually rate Joverton. Since he moved to Surrey and changed his run-up he's been pretty good. Still a weird selection for this match, though, given his lack of cricket this summer.

    English Domestic Season 2025

I guess he's unusual in being a left arm bowler whose stock ball is the away-swinger to the right-hander, but I'm surprised he's quick enough to trouble county level batters.

    English Domestic Season 2025

How the hell is Luis Reece a frontline bowler in first-class cricket, let alone a successful one? No speed gun in this match but he looks to be barely touching 60mph. What's his secret?

John Crawley was 6'2". Just saying.

Is 2020s worst era for spinners since 80s?

    English Domestic Season 2025

Only seen the wickets but that looked a poor batting display from Durham.
