Can't believe there's actually a discussion about this, it's far more difficult to make contact in baseball than in cricket (not that it's a meaningful comparison). Cricket's probably more difficult to learn/master, but technique can make up for lack of athleticism (including hand-eye...

Dhoni probably didn't deserve that but I don't mind one bit. He's clearly not test-class against quality opposition or in testing conditions, and the captaincy is no longer working in his favor in the longer format. Patel or Karthik should probably be up next, but Saha's fine for now. The...

Yeah, certainly a tough debut opportunity for him and he's been a clever operator in ODIs, but I just don't see him threatening at this level. That said, there probably weren't many better options for this tour given the injuries to PK and Sreesanth. Let's see how he goes, though Ashwin should...

Sreesanth is easily ahead of Vinay Kumar in the longer format - the former may be inconsistent and a nutcase but he's got genuine test-class ability. Munaf remains a tragedy whereas Mithun seems very raw, but VK should not be anywhere near the test side on all but the greenest of pitches.

Nice, 6 wickets for 154 so far. Let's just pretend like yesterday didn't happen, shall we?

What? Ishant is easily better than a large majority of English domestic bowlers. His first-class record is mostly his test record (against international opposition..) since he was picked so early, and even otherwise came on the flat tracks of the Ranji Trophy. I'm not foolish enough to compare...

Finally, something to cheer about for India - hopefully, they can build on the momentum for a change. Yadav clearly ahead of Ishant once PK returns to the test side, the latter could really use some time in county cricket learning how to utilize his talent again.

Regardless of the remainder of this match, I'd like to see Rahane and Sharma both come in for Adelaide, with Kohli staying. Too bad Mithun and Vinay Kumar will never be test-class, so let's bring back the classy Ashwin as well.

Ouch, Ishant gets owned by Warner straight away. Pathetic display yet again from this Indian side; somehow, I'm equally annoyed by the sea gulls right now.

Haha, I had no idea - appreciate that. As for Laxman, fair enough and given that a draw is still on the cards, I'm alright with Laxman getting another match. His feet do look slower than usual and his runs on the previous tour when just about everyone scored against a weak opposition don't...

Don't forget about Pujara, and Tiwary has re-entered the scene. One gets the feeling that Badrinath's time is up - he surely deserved more chances sooner, but didn't exactly look like he "belonged at the highest level" as much as someone like Rahane.

Disappointing times. Rohit needs to get a few chances in place of Laxman, and I'd consider Rahane for one of the openers in the final test ... though neither of these changes are likely.

Impressive. Hopefully Dhoni will realize that it's time to bring in Nayar and Mishra. Praveen Kumar isn't in favor right now but he's a better one-day bowler than both RP and Ishant.
