**Official** South Africa in England ODIs/T20s Tour 2025

England's batting depth is amazing.
Then I looked at South Africa's :|
Might be even better with Mulder, Bosch & Maharaj at #7, 8 and 9.
But I still think England batting is better. I don't think they could pick a better team :
- very good & exciting openers
- Joe Root
- huge talents of Brook & Bethell
- one of the best short format player Buttler
- powerful hitter & allrounder Jacks
- best spinner Rashid
- Archer, Carse & Baker for the quicks

It has issues, notably at 6 and 7. Jacks is an opener in limited overs, apart from when he plays for England. Him and Bethell doing the 5th bowler duties (with Root potentially) is a weakness. I'd sooner have Curran at 7, provides a 4th seaming option and his batting matches Jacks now (he's also used to batting at the end of an innings too).

Definitely, Jacks is a fine batter, but we have enough of them, we need all-rounders, and he and Bethell don't cut the mustard in that regard. In that case, I was a bit surprised Rehan Ahmed didn't get picked, I'm hoping that's just because he played yesterday

I am very excited to see Sonny Baker, although this will be his first List A game in 3 years! Granted, injuries are a big reason for that...

I spose thats why Joverton keeps his place in the squad. Expect a lot of 6s when england are bowling.

Yeah, the succession planning with spin has not been handled well and it has shown in the last couple of years with Livingstone not being anything close to ten over bowler in ODI cricket.

This series should be really exciting.
South Africa’s batting depth looks strong, but England at home is always a tough challenge.
I’m looking forward to seeing how the younger players handle the pressure.

Sam Hain really picked the wrong country to play for , had he chosen Australia he would have such a big international career right now in odi cricket

Interest seems high on this one!!

Match about to start, SA won the toss and bowl (stats say it's a tough ground to defend).

Nice sunny day in Leeds (unlike down South).
