Martin Andersson out run out at the non-striker's end, perhaps slightly unlucky, but it looked like smart work from captain Ollie Sykes who palmed the ball onto the stumps, pendulum swings Surrey's way

Worcestershire will be happy with their day's work as they win and Notts and Derbyshire lose chasing big totals, they jump into second place and are within touching distance of at least a quarter final spot. Somerset, Warwickshire and Middlesex all on 16 points with two games to play, none of them have each other or Yorkshire to play, so it's not impossible that someone will miss out on 24 points...

We will, It's great we are in the mix after a really poor season.

In group A, Gloucestershire got battered by Essex for their first loss of the campaign, still needing a win on the final round of group games against Hampshire to secure top spot, Essex currently in 4th give themselves a chance to make the quarters. Worcestershire beat eliminated Leicestershire to secure at least a quarter final spot, Hampshire beat eliminated Derbyshire, the stakes are high for them on the final day as they could top the group if they beat Gloucestershire, or they could drop out of the top 3 if they lose. Notts lose to Surrey and are eliminated, but for a team who have taken a few batterings this campaign, Surrey have come back well

Yorkshire more or less secure top spot with a win over Sussex who are now eliminated, but it’s an absolute bunfight below them for the two quarter-final spots! Somerset, who beat Kent with relative ease, are in the driver’s seat with a healthy net run rate and Northants to play on the final day, Warwickshire put the final nail into Durham’s knockout hopes with Ed Barnard and Michael Booth providing the heroics, and Middlesex, whose NRR was significantly worse than the rest going into today, went some way to rectifying that with a big win over Northants

That B group could easily end up with 2nd, 3rd and 4th all with 24 points and 6 wins from 8 matches and one of them fail to qualify.

Whereas potentially Gloucester could win their group with 24 points. Essex if they win and Hampshire lose will edge play off qualification.

Interesting to see that a large number spare non-playing Hundred new gloves carriers have bene released back to their county for the last couple of games:
Revis, McCann, Zafar Gohar, Hammond, Higgins, Aspinwall, Pennington, Brown and Fuller.

Hampshire have a better NRR than Gloucestershire so Gloucestershire have to win on Tuesday (or get a tie/no result) or else they’re bumped off top spot. All three play-off chasing teams in Group B will go in as favourites, be interesting to see how the teams approach it, do they go chasing net run rate from the outset?

Insert and knock off the runs T20 style for the NRR boost?

Aspinwall and Revis unavailable today, despite having earlier been released. Their franchises are in the daily game which should automatically rule them out. Bit pointless when they have already been released back, not suddenly going to play for the other team are they.

Get your excuses in first:

"If you look purely at the Group B table, there’s not much to smile about in this season’s One-Day Cup, with Lancashire only winning one of their seven games and losing five.

But that would be taking very much a tunnel vision approach to things.

With so many players away at the Hundred, and coming up against some counties nowhere near as badly affected"

Pretty desperate comms from a Club whose CEO wanted to play the County Championship at the same time as his beloved franchise stuff.

Gus Atkinson in the Surrey team? I thought you could only be released to your county team if you haven't played the last 2 Hundred games, he played 3 days ago

Somerset going very well in chase of a small total from Northants (all out for 238 off 47 overs, target of 240), looks to be between Warwickshire and Middlesex, Warwickshire in the box seat considering they already have a better NRR and are chasing a smaller total

Dead rubber as Surrey can't qualify and Worcs already have?
That's no reason to bend the rules. IIRC Lancashire, Aspinwall and his Franchise were all fined last year for breaching that rule.

More likely that England players are exempt. Because the ECB make the rules up to suit themselves and their contract players.
