He actually kinda was to high pace in Aus and WSC.Greenidge by a miles. Not even close. Both averages same but one did in a much longer career in tougher time to bat. Wasn't hopeless against good pacers in tough conditions either.
But he did very well against moving ball in England and Nz against bowlers like Hadlee. Have a look at cook's record at home against good attacks, or even away from home against good pace attack. Nothing of note. Greenidge generally did well against Australia at home at least. He actually kinda was to high pace in Aus and WSC.
Greenidge had trouble to high pace. His good record to Australia came on the back of generally very mid attacks. Yes, he is top notch to swing, but was not great to pace and merely OK to spin. Cook was really Great to spin while admittedly, nowhere near his level to swing. Think over career they are close enough. But

This is a very simplistic way to look at things. You need more context here. They didn't face same conditions in Australia and Pakistan for instance. It also doesn't cover there home record, neither it covers career length which affects greenidge. His era in general was low scoring. It doesn't cover up that either.1. Cook averages 49 in Australia while Greenidge does 30
2. Cook averages 53 in Asia while Greenidge does 36
3. Cook averages 45 in England, Greenidge 58, point for Greenidge
4. Greenidge is better in swing/seam conditions, Cook in turners.
overall, it's quite close, much closer than the other Greenidge comparisons with Weekes and Compton like, those guys just slaughtered him, Cook is much more fair
They didn't, but Greenidge was comically poor in his worst in Australia. Legit refused to open in 76. And so is his record in Pakistan. Way too poor even accounting for difficulty. If anything, Cook would do much better with his Home anywhere but England. Career length is fair. His Era was low scoring very largely for WI themselves. Remove them, and the era doesn't stands out any longerThis is a very simplistic way to look at things. You need more context here. Pitches were tough without wi as well, have a look at the wickets they got in Australia, Pakistan etc. 12 years vs 17 years career, it's unfair to directly compare there average. Greenidge was very good against spin, had a brilliant test in banglore on proper turner against a very good attack.
