Stubbs needed time at the crease. Hopefully he can use coming in so early to build on this start. The confidence he needs because his lack of confidence has filtered into his fielding which is crazy.

Forget you guys, I don't think anyone from team has done this to start with in the odi format
Breetzke has always been seen as a prospect but never really delivered at domestic level , in fact his List A stats are pretty ordinary, he was averaging low 30's at a SR in the 70's after 60 games before his 1st ODI for SA. Shows how the eye test sometimes does work for players lol

2 Eastern Province boys doing well ... @StephenZA

Following on from the Rushmere, Callaghan, Prince, Ingram and Smuts vintage. Don't think any of them played together for SA.

Absolutely. I've been a big fan of his from early. He has matured massively in the last 4 years or so. Actually done some hard yards in all formats.

Still maintain coastal batsman also have it tougher... Wickets aren't as true and being able to manipulate spin and hit it is another skill you can acquire.

Yeah I agree! Tack on another 5 on that average for coastal batters 😂

The frustrating thing about this innings so far is that we really have thrown away strong positions, Australia have been great at just hanging in there , waiting for the mistake and we've played into their hands a bit.

I think Pretorius should come in for Brevis in the final odi , that's 2 great platforms he's come on to bat and thrown away ..
I disagree with this, yes he needs to learn. Not playing isn't going to make it better. Or else its a punishment, and what are you saying with that? Don't play your natural game? If this was his twentieth game I would agree with you, because he wouldn't be learning.

I still want Pretorius in the team though.

If his keeping is considered good enough for 50-overs it might become a shoot-out with Rickelton. But I want both in my team if we can find the best of Rickelton.

Xavier Bartlett is quality, always liked him. I think CA have wrapped him in cotton wool too long. I know he has had bad injuries but he is a test prospect watching him here. Needs to bowl.
