English Domestic Season 2025

A shame to lose any games, but since the Hundred isn’t going anywhere, at least they are going to avoid the farcically long gap between the group stage and the finals and also be able to get more games on at the weekend

If Yorkshire don't win this with the side they are currently putting out they will have bottled it somewhere along the line.

The cup is nowhere near a development competition:
- 3 test players, 3 over 30, just 3 players under the 24.
- Only one player less than 20 List A games.
Counties play 8 List A per year so that is:
- 1 player with almost 2 seasons' experience, 1 with 3 seasons and all the rest with minimum 4 seasons' List A experience.
- And an opening partnership worth a combined 243 List A games and both of who are Test cricketers.

I guess the likes of Luxton, Wharton, Hill, Duke and Revis are too young for franchise cricket.

It was ultimately pretty comfortable for Yorkshire, but I think under the circumstances, Lancs can be proud of their efforts today, there are some very green kids in that team

Noticed Arav Shetty only has a short-term deal with Lancs, if I were them I’d tie him down to a longer one already, he was spectacular against Somerset and generally pretty tidy I thought today, also contributing with some useful runs late in the piece

New T20 format for 2026

So that effectively clears up 10 days in September for either the franchise cricket to over run or the championship to be played. More likely to be the latter either with the season ending earlier or with a round currently scheduled in June to be pushed back into September. Which in turn allows a more leisurely Blast, less fixtures and more calendar space.

On the face of it makes it easier to maintain 14 champioship rounds, otherwise the counties will be off for a mid season break in Dubai.

Need to add to the List A debuts:
Dawkins (Kent) academy/age group rate route
Sylvester (Warwickshire) and Franco (Glamorgan) both National Counties experience
Bailey (Durham) neither: on loan prior to 3 year deal

You wonder why they announced the Blast restructuring but they didn’t say anything about the Champo, did the ECB not get the answer they wanted the first time around?

probably just that was all they could agree.
would seem bizarre to turn the franchise into T20:
June and July: Domestic T20 Blast
August: Domestic Franchise with substantially the same players but all shook up and distributed into different teams but with an extra overseas star (3 not 2). Potentially not even featuring the winners / finalists of the earlier competition.

Just a quick question. Are there any blokes in this year's one day cup, who have fallen out of favour from the Franchise comp apart from Jake Lintott who was successful in the first year of that?
